Naked Pink Lady of Malibu, California

I'll be resuming posts about my road trip vacation later, but for now.........

Have you ever heard of the Naked PINK Lady of Malibu, California? 

I remember this story so clearly, almost as if it was yesterday.  I was an eighteen year old teenager.  I had taken this route - Malibu Canyon - many many times to go to the ocean, especially when I dated a surfer boy.

It was October 29th, 1966 - 42 years ago, when suddenly overnight this painting appeared on the mountain above the entrance to the tunnel in Malibu Canyon.

And, within a few days, she disappeared - but you could still see her shadow on the mountain.

I never knew the entire story, until yesterday, when it was mentioned on the radio.  It's kind of interesting.  Here are a couple links, if you'd like to read further.

ooohhhh, i'm gonna read up on that tonight!  never knew the story.  LOVE the route to the ocean tho - our favorite beach is Point Dume .... also site of our first date, followed by crappy food (at that time but don't know about now) at that little Mexican cantina just south of the beach entrance on PCH.  followed by REALLY YUMMY Benita's Frita's (no longer there) at 3rd Str. Promenade in S. Monica.
