The bad first so I can end on an up note.
DH is working every holiday this year. He worked 4th of July, he is working Halloween (looks like DD and I will go out just the two of us), he works Thanksgiving and the day after, he works Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and he works New Years Eve and New Years Day. I HATE THIS!!! I got married so I could always have family with me (Ok, one of many many reasons I married him) and this year and I have none of my family with me. I have his and no matter how much I love them, they aren't my family. DH, DD, and my folks are my family. My folks aren't coming in from VT and we aren't getting there so, except for the few moments in the day he is awake and with us, it is all me. Makes me want to cry everytime I think about it. Every holiday! They didn't even give him an option to take one of them off since they know this is happening. Man, is his company shitty!!!!!
For the good thing, a co-worker and I went out to eat and a local japanese place. REALLY GOOD!! We decided it was a great day outside so we sat outside. Well, there must have been some sort of nest around the area because we were visited by many (and I mean many) Ladybugs. It was so cool. Of all the bugs to get bothered by, Ladybug is the best. When we got in the car, we both have at least 3 on us. It was actually funny. My DD would have loved it!!

I am sorry dear, it sucks his schedule is so crappy. I wish you guys could be together but like she said ^ you guys can celebrate anytime. I know that's not the point but at least it's something. I know how it is, Mark was working a really tough schedule for a while, a while back and it was really hard on me because we are so close. so we got his schedule changed and now everything is better, I get to see him more and the girls see him more, he was sleeping a lot through the day and Emma barely got to see him, it was terrible! I don't know if you guys could maybe get his schedule changed but if you could I would consider it, it will take a great burden off of you, especially when the baby comes.
That really stinks, working every holiday?! Isn't there any chance of swapping with someone? Is everyone in the company working every holiday? How Scrooge of them...
Like everyone has said previously, it's when you as a family celebrate. My folks and in-laws have been traveling more and more to the Philippines at different times of the year, so inevitably, there are holidays where we aren't all together. This year, my parents will be in the Philippines before Thanksgiving, and through mid-Feb of next year. Early Thanksgiving for my side of the family.
I swear there's like an influx of ladybugs this year. They are everywhere. LOL
Sorry about DH working all the holidays. It sucks when you work in healthcare that's open 24/7. I used to get screwed when I worked at St John's.

Ugh, every holiday... who does your dh work for? Just remember it's not the actual date of the holiday that matters, you guys can have your celebration at anytime you want... not that that helps much :)... don't mind me I'm exhausted today!
