Okay, since I've become a SAHM, and my hubby went back to school, we're on a tight budget. The last couple of days our fridge has been pretty bare. I was thinking earlier about the woman in Obama's infomercial who had to make her kids snacks stretch....and thinking, we don't even have snacks at all right now. Hmmmm.

But as that thought came into my head I looked around me. In my kitchen was my own home-made bread baking and smelling so good. In front of me was the sewing machine I've been learning how to use. I thought about the very simple, and very cute dress I made. I thought about how much homemade bread is saving us money, and makes a PBJ taste almost gourmet. I thought about my first garden that I had this year, and the delight of watching my little seeds turn into big veggies.

...and you know what - I'm having fun!

Making ends meet doesn't have to be all sobby and suffering. Yeah it's hard, but I've had the most amazing sense of accomplishment as I've learned these fun new skills.

I think back to the pioneers who first settled these western-states that I have called home. I've grown up lightly honoring their sacrifices...and now it's really in my heart that they're my hero's for doing so much with so little.

Thanksgiving is our next big Holiday; lets smile, and share a bit of gratitude.

You have to send me your bread recipe because the way I have been figuring it...it's costing me MORE to make the bread myself lol. But other than that, good for you! It's definitely the small, simple things that make it all worth while :)

The trick is to buy flour in bulk, and gluten flour in bulk...then you add a TBSP of gluten flour to the bread recipe.

That's how it becomes cost effective. If you're buying bread-flour it costs way too much.

I have a pizza crust recipe that I got off of a blog that I read.  My 9 year old made the pizza crust the other day.  It was good and saved us money on buying pizza.
