You know, growing up Christian, you hear the story of Moses returning from receiving God's Ten Commandments, and I use to think, "What a ridiculous story" But never in my life did I ever think that I would see it in my life time.

I am no longer a christian. I got tired of hearing that I was going to hell if I didnt live like Jesus. Especially from people that had no business preaching to me themselves. I am a Pagan, and I celebrate the gifts that the God/dess has given us, NATURE. Pure beauty. We Pagan's never pray for money, we pray for prosperity. And prosperity is different to so many different people. We never pray to someone to fall in love with us, that is infringing on peoples free will. So why is that when we are celebrating the gift of lfe and death, we get told that we are sinners and that we are going to hell. "you worship the devil" "Ah no we dont, We dont believe he exists. We can still be friends" "No you worship the devil" "No we dont" "Well you dont have to believe in the devil to be worshiping him"

Now how to do you respond to that? It is so absolutely ridiculous that you cant. I wonder how these christians, that are praying to this bull statue, are going to explain how they think that this is "techniquily not idol worship." And if they believe that God provides for us all, why are they praying for money? It isnt our fault that the government screwed us. It isnt our fault that we have so many greed people that would make a low income family suffer so that their bank account doesnt deplete. Their logic makes my head hurt.

So being that today is us Pagan's Holy day Samhain, I encourage everyone to enjoy this time with their loved ones, be safe, and to teach them to remember our ancestors. Because without which, we wouldnt be here. Blessed Be

Exodus, Chapter 32.

"For these and other reasons Cindy [Jacobs] is calling for a Day of Prayer for the World’s Economies on Wednesday, October 29, 2008. They are calling for prayer for the stock markets, banks, and financial institutions of the world on the date the stock market crashed in 1929. They are meeting at the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve Bank, and its 12 principal branches around the US that day. “We are going to intercede at the site of the statue of the bull on Wall Street to ask God to begin a shift from the bull and bear markets to what we feel will be the 'Lion’s Market,' or God’s control over the economic systems,” she said."

Rather disturbing ...these are "christians".    Looks like money is their god doesn't it.  Seems like the bible said you cant serve God and money.  Once again, talking out of both sides of their mouths. Tisk tisk.

I can only hope that the person responsible for this event had a momentary lapse in judgement, as to how it would appear to the world. I hope an apology to the Christian community is soon to follow, this was not a Christian thing to do. Praying would've been good, but repentence and seeking forgiveness needed to have come first and definitely not around something. Good grief, what were they thinking? It should really not come as a surprise to us that we are facing financial hardship-we have left out God in everything, we no longer seek his will and purpose for our lives. I believe that He will take care of those who are truly following Him and have faith entirely in Him; that means obedience in continuing to give in tithes and offerings. Not just the outward act of giving but actually believing in your heart that He is God and that He will supply all your needs. Does He not know the number of hairs that are on your head? or when a sparrow falls?

Acts 19:13-15 " Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priest, which did so. And the evil spirit ansered and said , Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?"

Commentary from my Bible again.

These men were calling upon the name of Jesus without knowing him personally. The power to change people is in the person of Jesus Christ. It cannot be tapped by reciting his name like a magic charm. God works his power only through those he chooses.

That being said just the outward appearance of praying does not a Christian make, and I hope whoever put this together is Christian enough to realize how this ridiculous this makes the Christian community look.

Yeah you could think that, but even my own mother who is a christian believes that god helps those who help themselves. Meaning: you need to get off your ass and work for it. im not just gonna hand it over to you cuz you think that you have it coming. .

Offerings? yes I have no problems with giving offering to my local homeless shelter or giving food to the Salvation Army during thanks giving so that low income hard working families could have a great thanksgivng. But im not giving a fucking dime to the church. I dont know what they do with it. They certianly arent paying any taxes with it. They sure spend alot of money buying signs and stickers to pass out on sunday advocating Yes on 8, when the constitution clearly states that there is to be a separation from themselves and politics. I know for a fact, if the governemet started making the church pay their share of taxes, it would help straighten up the economy. I also know that if people stopped going to church and giving money, all them church people would to go out and get real jobs like the rest of us. So I dont wanna hear some crap about tithing and that God will only help if I do, cuz I havent tithed in years, and I still have a great home, a wonderful husband who doesnt cheat, 4 wonderful and healthy kids and a great job. and its not because my lack of faith, its because my faith is more pure than most, I practice what I preach, I appriciate what the God/dess has given me. Spout all the scriptures you want, I dont believe anything that man has written, but I will take to heart what Nature has to say. And in Nature, there is no good and evil. it isnt evil when mama bear kicks your ass when you fuck with her cub. it isnt evil when the shark bites you because he was hungry and thought you were a seal. But I do think that its evil when people try and act like they are holier than thou. But we do agree with one thing, them ppl up there are fuckin nuts.

I think Pagaan is interesting, so similar to Mayan worship and Greek Mythology. I like the concept of preying for prosperity instead of money or belongings, it makes sense. Do you practice Wicca or more of a Hinduism? Please don't mind the questions. I am Presbyterian but I really like learning about other religions.

I do not know your experience with the church. In my church most of the tithes go to the missionaries that the Assemblies of God support, both foreign and abroad. I am sorry you seem to have had such a poor experience with Christians that leaves you with such a distaste for us. I am sure that there are those who are actually hypocritical in their actions, by speaking one way and doing another; but rest assured it is not so with us all. I will keep you in my prayers and wish you and your family well. Amen.

We could all use the prayers and appriciate them, and in turn,  I will dance naked in the forest for you and trust me, that is a good thing. Blessed Be

Hey.. I read the other post about the wiccan mom... I am a Christian... and believe me, we're not all the same. The tithe and offering given in churches are for the maintence and upkeeping of the church (gotten pay electric bills lol) and for missionaries to go to other countries/cities/states to spread the gospel. That's what it's used for at my church anyway.

I would never condemn anyone to hell because I don't have that power. That power is with each individual person and what they chose to do with the gospel of Jesus. I will, however, say that we're all sinners, and yes that includes me. I do things that aren't right. I do occasionally lie, don't always love my neighbor as myself and occasionally I tell God no... which is disobedience. I'm not sure about your experience with churches and Christians (it seems to be a not so good one) but I can promise you, I'm STILL a sinner. I don't practice it and I hate it when I sin, but I still do.

Having said that, the above picture and relating article is proof that not all who call themselves Christians truly are Christians. You are correct in stating that what these people are doing is considered idol worship... BIG time. Christians, or at least this Christian, doesn't pray for money, or wealth or power. I have friends and family who don't know Jesus that take up my prayers.

By the way, did you post a link with this picture? Do you know which church this is? I'd like to know so that I can avoid them? :0) Oh and would you like to be my friend? Can't say I will always agree with you (guess you already could see that lol) but I try my hardest to fair to both sides.....

happy
