Well, I finally got the lowdown on what's going on with Gabe.  They had to remove part of his liver (which will regenerate) and one of his kidneys.  The other kidney seems to be taking on the additional work just fine.  He's doing well and is beginning to perk up.  They don't know for sure if they got all of the tumor, so they are coming up with a treatment plan that may include chemotherapy or radiation (I'm not sure which they said) to kill any cancerous cells that may be remaining.  They had him in the playroom a couple of days ago, not that he played but getting out of the room is great!  He had his first bites of solid food yesterday...about 3 bites of Special K.  The family is obviously feeling relieved.

An interesting thing about the tumor...the tissue has a very high level of embryonic cells.  It seems as though he's probably had this growing in him since he was developing as a fetus and it's just been growing right along with him.  Tumors of this type are usually diagnosed right around the child's 5th birthday.

The family is so thankful for everyone's prayers and positive energies directed their way.  Please keep them in your hearts as they continue on through Gabe's rehabilitation...
