I cant sleep. I keep thinking about what happened. Everyone says I'm lucky to be alive, with  my pregnancy intact, and that my 2 year old son is unharmed at all. I believe angels were watching over us.

I was watching my 2 year old start taking off his car seat belts through the rearview mirror. as he was talking to me about something. When I looked forward i saw the red light. I hit the brakes, but the pavement was wet. it was 8am. I had just dropped off my 3 year old at the Head Start Center and he was dressed as a pirate. My 2 year old Josh was dressed just like him. With a pirate hat, a painted on mustache and a plastic play hook. He was so adorable. I messed up his halloween.

He didnt even cry. He just sat there watching me go hysterical, thinking i had lost my pregnancy, my baby, and that he had flown off the carseat because he was taking off his belts the last time i saw him.

I say angels were watching over us because the onlything that moved was his pirate hat. When i finally calmed down and looked back. he was calmly sitting in his seat, talking to the other kind people who stopped to check on me. Others, those who didnt stop, cursed from their cars at me, telling me to "get off the cell phone you moron". I didnt hear them. The lady I hit, who was so compassionate that she was taking care of ME while her own mother was in the car all nervous, was shunning them away.

I was in a state of shock, disbelief, panic. Both airbags went off. I thought i killed everyone, me, my son, my baby, both ladies in th car. I cant believe my son is still here, and unharmed, his neck doesnt even hurt. Something must have held him to his seat. I cant believe my baby is still in my womb, that the placenta is unbruised and that he's even growing hair and ahead of schedule (my c section would be now  in december 12ish). I cant believe both ladies were unharmed, when i hit them so hard one of her wheels fell off (i was told, i was too panicked to even get off the car. people tell me i was screaming, i cant remember how police and other drivers got in my car to help me. i have no idea how they opened the doors).

As i was getting all the necessary tests done to see if the baby in my womb was okay, the sonogramist was called. She came in with her 8 year old daughter, who was complaining about not getting to go trick or treating early. Everything was okay. As the sonogram progressed, and the sonogramist was telling me how okay the baby was, her daughter all of a sudden said "Jazmin Ortiz, mommy who is this person?" The sonogramist stayed quiet and concentrated on her work, and then said, "I dunno, honey".

But I knew. :)

I am so glad everything is ok.   I was just in an accident with my two kiddos on october 30th.   It was very scary.  I am still  very emotional about it.   But,  I am so glad to hear that you, your son, and your unborn child are ok.

How Scary!! Glad everyone is alright! Maybe that was a scary moment for your 2yo and he won't try to get out of his seat anymore? Remind him if he does! Just rememeber to replace any carseat that was in the car. ((((HUGS))))
