So it has come to pass that the Diaper Goblin has decided he may be ready to be a Not-So-Diapered Goblin. For the last few weeks, he is announcing "Uh-Oh! Poo Poo!" when he fills his diaper, and when we change it (while we sing the Diaper Changing Song..don't ask..) he says, "Bye Bye Poo Poo!" when we throw said stanky bottomswaddler away. Same with the pee, except he will grab the front of the pamper (which blows up like an inflatable flotation device when wet) and try to then play some bongo drum on it while laughing.
I thought I had some more time before we had to do this potty learning thing ("potty learning" is the new PC term for toilet training, I have learned. "Mommy learning." Anyway..) I have now purchased two bright books with words like pee-pee and poo-poo in them, plus a friend gave me a cheerful Elmo DVD about pooping in the potty, with potty songs and potty games and potty wisdom. I went and dropped a twenty on a baby potty.
POTTY POTTY POTTY POTTY POTTY POTTTYYYYY
I am so not ready for this. My baby is becoming a little boy.
I have to admit that not having to deal with the "guess what's waiting in my pants" game will be nice, but I don't know if he's quite ready, either. He just seems so young for it. We can try, and if it works, great- I'm saving a bit of money on diapers. If it doesn't, we'll wait, and I'm saving a bit more babyhood to enjoy.
I know I should be thrilled, but wierdly enough- the prospect of cleaning out a potty five or six times a day doesn't really help matters, either..
