I had a potential client call me this morning and come meet me here at the gym... and she was a total DUD!

She told me she was pregnant, and when she got here... she didn't look pregnant. I asked her how far along she was and she told me she "should" be 12 weeks! Should be? What did she mean "should be"?

She told me she doesn't go to doctors or any medical facilities- she doesn't believe in them. Her family is full of natural home birthers and holistic practicioners.

She told me her period was late so she found a midwife and asked her to check her out. The midwife used a doppler on her and told her she could hear a placenta density, so she must be pregnant. I have to wonder who this "midwife" was, because she didn't even do a vaginal or cervical exam on her! COME ON!

This woman tells me she's been having her periods still, but they're light and two days long. Then she tells me her last period was heavy and clotting on the first day and then spotting the next few days.

I finally said "Have you even taken a home pregnancy test?"

She said "Yes, I've taken seven."

I said "Okay."

She said "But all of them have come out negative!"

. . . . .

WTF!?!?!?!?!?

I told her she needed a sonogram. She says no doctors or hospitals.
I told her she needed a blood test. She asked if I could perform one on her. I said "I'm a Doula, miss, I don't do medical procedures." She asked me where she'd go to get one. I told her a hospital or doctor's office. Big fat no.

Then she tells me her sister is a Doula and has been using her own doppler on her but they don't know what they're listening for and they haven't heard anything... Are you serious? If your sister is a Doula, why did you call me looking for a god damned Doula!? I told her if she wasn't picking anything up on her own doppler, she's still having her period and all tests are negative, I'd say she wasn't pregnant or she miscarried. She told me "Well, it's still too early to hear a heartbeat anyway."

. . . . . . .

A fetal heartbeat heard over ANY doppler should be heard by 10 weeks. Any earlier than that and I could understand not hearing it.

At this point I'm thinking "This bitch is crazy."

She finally left. I hope she never comes back!

=) Thanks, that makes me feel less aggravated.

Placenta Density- Never "heard of it" either. LOL. That's what threw me off along with the "midwife" not doing a vaginal exam on her!
