This year we are spending the holidays with our little family of four, my parents, my in-laws, my aunt, my pregnant cousin and her boyfriend AND his family.  We have many to buy gifts for but no money to spend.  I will be making a lot of homemade gifts this year.  I am making hot chocolate cones for everyone.  I also saved some really cute jelly jars that I am planning on filling with different candies and decorating the jars to give as gifts.  Any other gifts I will be getting from Target probably, I have a couple of gift cards for Target that I got with points that I earned from my bank.

Other than the things that I am doing for my children and husband, I surprisingly don't have to do too much to prepare for the holiday meal.  There are so many of us getting together this year that we are all breaking up all of the responsibilities.  It has been requested that I make my yummy chocolate pie and that is SO easy.  I seem to be getting off easy as far as meal preparation is going, yippeee!  But it also means that I have to drag everyone over to my cousins house.  My husband isn't too overly fond of my aunt and cousin, and he thinks her boyfriend is an idiot to be with her, so he is pretty grumpy that everything is going on at her house.  Oh well though, it's just one day and it means less work for me.

I made brownie pizzas for a bunch of people one year, and packaged them in real pizza boxes (mine were from Pizza Hut).  They were my own creation, actually, but I know there are recipes for them out there now.  And there a ton of recipes for those jarred gifts on-line.  And those cost a lot of money when you buy them at bazaars.   For the last 20 years or so, I've been making a lot of the gifts I give every year, even before it became so monetarily necessary the last five years.  If I think of anything else you might try, I'll let you know.

That's a lot of people! I wonder if one pie will be enough. Hopefully you won't have to spend too much time with anyone who puts you or your DH in a bad mood.

Good idea with the jars and candy. I think a lot of people will have limited holiday budgets this year.
