Why do bad things happen to good people?

I put off writing this post because I just didn't think I would be able to handle it.  My best friend's mother in law was murdered by her son (Mandy's husband halfbrother).  It was awful and sickening.  I cooked them some food and I watched there sweet little girl while they made funeral arrangements but I still don't feel like I did enough.  I love her and I wish she didn't have to deal with this ontop of everything else.  She is just a awesome person who would do anything for anybody.  I wish things didn't have to turn out like this.
