Hablando de todo un poco

Little bit of this, little bit of that!

No, not that kind of pleasing.  Perverts.

I thought I was the only person that no longer purchased 'stuff' for herself.  Every time I go to buy myself a blouse, jeans, heck: some undies!  I always end up buying something for my son, the house or my hubby.  For some reason, I feel guilty spending, let's say, $20.00 on myself.

Upon joining CM, I realized I'm not alone!  A vast majority of moms do the same.  In a way, I guess this is the 'mom' thing to do: put our family first.  Nothing wrong with that, I suppose.  But, there is also NOTHING wrong with spending a little on ourselves.  My husband actually gets rather annoyed at me for this.  He's always urging me to buy myself something nice.  He says 'it doesn't have to be expensive.  Buy yourself ONE, at least ONE blouse or a pair of jeans a month.'  Yeah.  Easier said than done.  Although, I did manage to hit the clearance rack at Ross and purchase three - yes - three new blouses for $25!  I was totally excited.  That was my purchase for the month of October.

So, how about this ladies: start your own ME fund.  Get a large coffee can and fill it with coins.  Every penny, nickle and dime you find throw it in there.  At the end of the month, go buy YOU something nice.  Yes, I know times are tough.  Yes, I know that extra change can go towards toilet paper and stuff.  But it's ok to make yourself happy.

..and toilet paper is over rated.  Go wash that ass instead!

=o)

Angie, if you ever come to my house, I'm giving you an entire roll of toilet paper all for yourself!  My me fund goes for chocolate purchases these days.  I'd buy some new shirts, but I'd just end up drooling and dropping food on them.

Quite frankly, I do spoil myself with coffee.  It's insanely rare that I buy new lasting things for me, but the coffee... yeah.  Speaking of... I can get free Starbucks today for voting, AND I have a freebie from the Albertson's Starbucks.  Whoo hoo!

You know, I used to feel this way, not buying me stuff, EVER. Around the time I turned 30, it changed. I started to just do it. Get over the guilt, and just do it. Now I never feel guilty when I purchase myself something that I want (like books) rather than need (like tampons). Instead, I feel like you're supposed to feel when you can buy yourself a treat; insanely happy :)

Go Angie! Buy yourself stuff. Maybe we should do that when we get together; go shopping for US. No buying stuff for our kids, husbands or household allowed!

I usually have to wait until I've got absolutely no other choice but to buy new clothes before I'll go do some shopping for myself...  And then I'll only buy something if it's on clearance.  I always feel SO guilty when I get something that's just for me- no matter how much I've spent.  I'm working on it, though.

It's not because I don't totally enjoy spoiling myself or because I don't think I'm "worth it"-- I know I am... it's because I'm always so worried about spending any money at all on anything other than necessities.  After being SO poor for SO long, it's difficult to see money in a new light.

Oh my do I agree!!!  I have signed myself up to get a massage a month.  It comes directly out of my account and it is less than I would spend on one of the kids or Ed.  Hell, even the dog and cat get surprises haha.  I have been getting my nails done regularly as well.  Little money, lots of mom revitalizing.

I JUST posted a journal JUST like this! I want to know the same thing! How come some Moms seem like they have everything, as far as cloths & things go...and some of us are so into caring about our finances that we totally do not spend ANYTHING on ourselves????? Yay Mommies! Help me figure this out too!
