Election Depression

   I am not writing this to cause drama. I just need to somehow express my feelings and anxiety. I am a McCain supporter. I was really wanting him to win. He didn't.

   Obama may be the best Pres we have ever had. I can't see into the future. Yet, I am fearful that some of my constitutional rights are in jeopardy. Yes, I am speaking of our right to bear arms. I am a person who lives in a rural area. Hunting is a way of life. Protecting my home is a priority. I don't think a baseball bat is much protection from an illegally obtained gun. Because that is just what will happen if upstanding citizens get their guns taken away. This just may be a silly worry. He may never be able to pass any law  through our government. He may just make everyone register their weapons, or take a course that registers everyone in a database. Like I said, I can't see into the future.

    Also, some things in Obama's book has me scared. He has said if it came down to Muslims or Americans, he would choose Muslims. I may be taking it wrong, but doesn't that mean he would abandon us? Our President would leave us defenseless, and abandon us! WTH!!! Why won't he show us his birth certificate?( Rumor: He was born in Hawaii. Thanx mkemom519 ) Why won't he tell who is giving him those millions of dollars? Too many unanswered questions. Too many. Also, I have seen the video of him not saluting the flag during the Pledge of Allegiance. Yes, he has done it! (Rumor: He didn't do it during the Star Spangled Banner, not POA, still hmmmmm..... Thanx mkemom519)

   Again, I can't see into the future. He has alot on his plate when he takes over. Our economy is in the crapper, we need some resolution to this war, we need healthcare for the millions who can't afford it. He has good strategies, but so has many before him. Yet, we haven't seen any results. I believe we need to rally. I believe we need to unite for our country. Lets quit our petty bickering between races and cultures. Let's just save our wonderful America! PLEASE!!!

I agree with you. My husband and I make a combined income that may border us as being considered "rich"...I have 3 daughters and a house. If I make more money will more be taken away from me to "redistribute"?? I worked my way through college and took loans. nothing was given to me. Enough of my paycheck goes to taxes,makes me wonder if trying for a promotion is even worth it.

I know you do not mean to cause drama and I do not wish to bring it.  However, your post is filled with rumors, not fact. 

For one, his birth certificate is available, showing he was born in Hawaii. 

Secondly, he didn't put his hand over his heart while singing the Star Spangled Banner, not the Pledge of Allegiance.  Putting your hand over your heart while singing the SSB is not expected, and not doing so is certainly not a sign of being unpatriotic. 

And thirdly, about gun control:  if you are in a rural area I just have to ask who are you protecting your home against?  I live in a city and see the effects of gun violence every day.  I grew up in the country, though, and cannot for the life of me understand why people feel they need guns there.  People obtaining guns for hunting is one thing, but 14 year old inner city kids dealing drugs and getting guns is quite another.  I think with any gun control, hunters can rest easy.  They will still be able to get their guns.  I think the hope is that guns will be harder to come by where they hurt people the most--in the inner city.

And also, I'm not sure where you heard he would choose Muslims over Americans.  I would love to see that quote, as I've never heard a thing about it.

Again, I'm not trying to bring drama :)  I just think there are some rumors that need to be put to rest and hope people will find the truth out there instead of going on things they've heard in passing.  Have a great day!

In response to mkemon519. Thanks for the comment. Yet, rural areas have their crime. We are not immune to break-ins and violence. It has actually increased quite a bit in the past few years. Even my lil town of just over 1000 has seen it share of drugs, violence, and theft. Rural areas are not immune.

The quote about Muslims is in his autobiography. At least that is what I seen reported. It may also be a rumor blown out of proportion, and quoted as fact. Who knows these days. Thanx for clearing up the SSB not POA mix up. I did see the birth certificate. Thanx for that, also.

I agree he has alot of challenges facing him but I believe he and his administration will do great things for America. I have no doubt he will make us all proud, not just those that voted him in.
