So this afternoon I am trying something new!
Yesterday I started to babysit for a family friend. Her daughter comes over on Tuesdays and Thursdays so she can work a bit during the week. The little one is a little sweetie. And she is pretty easy going too. But I found out that things might have to change a little with Chloe's nap-time.
Chloe is surely mommy's little baby. She gets rocked to sleep for naptime. We both really like it and it has been working well for a while. But yesterday with the baby here it just did not work out. Imagine (and I am sure moms with more then one can!) trying to rock a 2 year old to sleep and keep a 2 1/2 month old happy all at the same time. Chloe didn't end up napping until 3, which is a really long time for her to be up.
Which brings us to today. I figure we need to do something else. I realize that Chloe isn't a baby. And I might just need to give her a little shove into becoming a big girl. So today we are trying napping alone in her toddler bed WITHOUT me laying with her to get to sleep. .My good friend had suggested that we try that first (before trying to get her to sleep alone in her bed at night time) so I figured I would finally give it a good shot. So far so good. I took her into her room and kept it very positive. I acted really excited about it and kept a big smile on my face. I reassured her that I will be here the whole time. She screamed for a few minutes but has been quite since. A few whines but no crying. *FINGERS CROSSED*
I am hoping we can stick with this and it will lead to her putting herself to sleep at night too. But lets not count our chickens before they hatch!
