Do you remember your first car? I remember getting a four door piece of crap but I was happy to have had a set of wheels at the time. I am so proud of my baby (Who is 15) and I promised to buy her a car when she turned 16 (In January) the problem is I am not sure if I should get her a new car or a used car? Hmmmmm What do you all think? My husband says used or no car and I say new as she has kept up with her end of the bargain in maintaining straight A's in school, is also in basketball, school Mascot (The Falcon), is working on her college courses, volunteer's with me helping Veterans and just an all around sweet girl. I really value your opinion so please give me your advice and do share your first car experience.

Apr. 13, 2007 at 5:00 PM Definitely used. Just cuz it's used doesn't mean it's yucky! Get a cool, fun, safe used car for her, she'll love it!!

I am very happy that I got a used car when I started driving! I had 3 crashes in the first 3 months. I think you may want to start with used for a while let her prove her driving abilities and then move up!

Just my thoughts. I am a great driver now by the way! HeHe

Apr. 13, 2007 at 5:03 PM If you're going to buy her a car, I would definitely get a used car, just make sure it's decent.  I heard somewhere that new cars lose about 60% of their market value within the first couple years, so I wouldn't waste the money.  Just my opinion though!

Apr. 13, 2007 at 5:03 PM I would go with a used car....if u get a report on the car u can see how many owners and such on it.....I wouldnt get her a clunker just something fun and safe.....if she continues then buy her a new one when she graduates from high school....that just my idea....

My daughter got her first car at 14....she had to get a hardship license in  order to get back and forth to school. She got one that I had driven for a short while, and then after my Dad passed away I let my Mom drive it instead of the HUGE van my Dad had. As it turned out, Just as mom was getting to the point that she couldn't drive anymore.....Val needed a car. So her first car was used and abused....but it still looked good lol {ahem} this is also the car that wound up IN someones living room....My daughter wasn't driving, her friend was checking the non existant brakes......

Go with used Baby Girl....go with used lol

Apr. 13, 2007 at 5:07 PM I think your husband is right. You can find a nice used car for now. Then maybe you can get her a new one for a graduation gift. Plus your insurance will go up and if you get a new car it will be really bad. Good job on raising a good daughter I only have 1 daughter almost 15yrs old and she is a good girl to but I wouldnt buy her a new car for her first one.

Apr. 13, 2007 at 5:09 PM id say used only because shes very young and probly doesnt have that much drving experiance.if you buy her a new car i think your crazy only because ive seen what some of my friends have done to brand new cars lol.if you buy her a used car it doesnt have to be a hoopty.my boyfirnds mom just bought a 1996 toyota camery and its beautiful and did cost an arm and a leg.that just my opinion and do u realy wanna start a fight with you husband over it??he probly has reasonable reason y he only wants t get her a used car and not a new one.take car and good luck on your decision!
