This election was about more than just picking a new president it was making history... and i was apart of it, I MADE HISTORY. for this to be my first time voting im glad that it was in this election at this point in history, THE most important elections in all of American History. We have our 1st BLACK PRESIDENT. Now as excited as i am i cant say that i am not also afraid, afraid that america is not truly ready for this, that the racism that continues to exist is so strong, i am afraid for barack and his family, but my prays are with them. I have never felt so much "pride, fear, happiness, sadness" at once. I cry when i think about those who fought to make this moment possible and those who did not live to see this moment be realized (My dad, Uncle Edward, Shannon, and sooo many others we've lost this year). especially my dad, a black man born in 1946 who must have gone thru so much, i wish he couldve seen this. then i think about my boyfriends grandmother, who is in her 80s, from the south, and still uses the word "colored" and how this must feel to her. and then i look at my son... and see all the possibilities, i see what he can become and that his potential truly is limitless....

The world will not change overnight, racism and fear will not dissapear, but you gotta start somewhere... this that time. The possibilites are limitless. the world is now just a lil bit better
