Ok. So I change my son's diaper and his little bottom is red and very sore. Here's the interesting part, I put desitin on his bottom every time his diaper is changed. So, how can he end up with a sore red bottom? Please let me know your opinion. Thank you.

Desitin never worked for my kids and made their rash hurt more.

My youngest had a chronic , often bleeding, diaper rash until he was 3. I had to be very careful what I ate while breastfeeding and had to take him off of ALL fruits eventually

It could be too much diaper rash cream or it could be an allergic reaction. Try Boudreax's and remember a THIN layer!

When my kids were young, too much acidic urine would cause diaper rash.  I'd have to really water down their juices till it went away.  I'd also use powder plus the desitin when they were really sore.  Hope he feels better soon!

I agree desitin NEVER worked for my kids always made it worse, I used to use Diaparene and it was AWESOME I havent seen it in a long time last place i found it was target but that was years ago.

One thing that could cause it in addition to acidic urine is have you switched diaper brands recently or wipes? have you gone to the cheaper brands like white cloud from walmart or other store brands? Cheap diapers are really bad for babies bottoms, my daughter would be fine no rash and litterally 5 minutes later be completely inflamed because she has sensitive skin, the only wipes i could use were the pampers lavender and i used Luvs diapers, sometimes pampers if i had coupons. Luvs got me through 3 kids and worked great.

I had to make wipes for my youngest. They worked great. and he had to have them warm, too. We used Benson's Bottom Paint (I think)

Destin never worked on my son.  The only thing I have found to work is a lotion.  Also if you give them to much juice it can cause a rash. MY hubby (smart boy) gave my son STRAIGHT organe juice at 11 months.  Gave him a yeast infection!! The doctor said the sugars from his urine caused the yeast infection. I had NO IDEA boys could get it!! Good luck! Hope his but clears up.

You would be surprised what chemicals are in most baby products and there are laws to protect the poeple who make these products. They dont have to put ALL the ingred's on the label. Unless you live inEurope and they do have too. Anyways I tried everything....go to www.shaklee.net/thetyndallfamily and you can order something called creamy baby oil. Its 100% all natural and is full of soothing aloe. I put this on my daughter bum between diapers and it helps to heal and protect her cute little bottom. This product is free of alcohol, free of mineral oil, free of added colors and dyes. It DOES have aloe vera and chamomile. Its dermatologist tested and completely soap free. Its ph balanced and has vitamins A, D, And E. Guarenteed to love it or they refund your money in Full!!! Good luck in your search and be careful with other products...research it ..they really dont have to put all ingredence on products for us or our homes.

I never used diaper cream, or powder. And Mayah never once had a rash or anything. I'd suggest giving him a bath then letting him run around diaper free every once in a while (preferably RIGHT after he goes.. then you have a better chance that he won't go all over the place)
Also, if he's really bad, try using a washcloth with warm water to wipe him, instead of baby wipes.

Honey, you probably putting to much of that Desitin on his ass don't you know that stuff burns. You don't have to put it on him everytime you change him, this is your fault, and you should be ashame of yourself for burning your childs ass, and laying up in the damn bed at night letting him keep that wet ass pamper on. I should report you.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I just don't understand how he never had a problem with rashes and now all of a sudden he does, even though I put the cream on his bottom. I did buy some different wipes about a month and a half ago. I get my diapers and wipes at costco and I was using the kirkland signature and then I bought Huggies wipes but that was almost 2 months ago, would it take that long for it to affect him?
