A New Threat in My Life

SO my husband and I went on our very romantic weekend but it started of weird and ended in an almost disaster. I was in pain in my leg for the entire weekend and on Sunday, when we came home, I had to be rushed to the ER. My entire left leg was BLUE and I was having trouble breathing. After many tests, they found out what it was; I was diagnosed with DTV which is Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism. This is caused by blood clots in your lungs and legs due to excessive weight, inactivity and pregnancy among other things. They found 4 clots in my lungs and a massive one that spans from my abdomen to my left knee!

I had emergency surgery last Monday and I am now home with my family. I almost lost my life at the age of 24! How scary is that!!!

I have to self-inject myself with a blood-thinner medication 2 times a day for 10 days, and I will be on oral blood-thinners for the next year. I will also have to have weekly blood tests to make sure my clotting levels remain at a 2 or 3 max. I can't get pregnant at all for the next year and even afterwards will be high risk. I cannot go on birth control (other than condoms).

I could have died. I almost did. I almost left my beautiful family behind but I was lucky to be given a sencond chance.

Now, I have an even bigger reason to get healthy and active. I have to save my life.

I want to thank my husband, my family and my friends for being there for me throgh this ver tough and very scary time in my life. And I want to that God for giving me another chance to fix things and be here for my kids.

I am so happy that you're okay (I mean "ok" as in on the way to recovery)!  Good luck in your healing process, you and your family will be in my thoughts!
