I will agree with most Cafemoms when they say that they are sick of hearing about the election, and especially all the immature bickering back and forth about who is right and who is wrong, etc. I did not vote for Barack Obama, I voted for McCain. I have paid close attention to this election through most of the campaigning on both sides. I have come to terms with the fact the Obama WILL in fact be our President. Being a citizen of the United States, I must show some kind of support for my President-elect because if I don't... (in my mind) it isn't very patriotic of me. Since we are the United States, it is important to come together as "one." Sure there might be plenty of things that some of you disgree with Obama on, but if you do your research(using credible sources): you will find at least something that you believe is good about him. Since I know that most democrats are supporters for more funding/attention to our school sytems: I decided to search about his beliefs on those particular matters....
I am in school right now to become an Elementary School teacher, majoring in Mathematics and Social Studies, and minoring in Language Arts. In other words, education (especially early education) is a very important subject to me. For those who do not know, there is a MAJOR crisis in ALL of our school sytems (mostly poor areas).
The No Child Left Behind Act, sounds good and may make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, but it is extremely misleading! The government is setting these high standards for education for both teachers and students, without the funds to back it up. There's are a TON of unqualified teachers out there because no one wants to become teachers so schools are literally doing what ever it takes to fill the position. No one wants to become a teacher because the opportunity for creativity has been stripped from the job title. You cannot expect a child to learn much at all if the entire curriculum is being taken over by all the information the children has to learn from the standardized tests. When some of these poor and/or minority students want to become teachers they can't even meet the certification requirements because of our system. It is not their fault! I do believe there are a lot of people that do the whole "woes me" thing and if they tried harder they could get a little further, BUT its hard to do without the resources--$$$ from Uncle Sam! There's a shortage for qualified teachers in many areas, including but not limited to: Special Education, Mathematics, and Science. Barack says that he's going to give special funding for people that are willing to fill these voids---Thank you Barack!
There's too many issues to cover regarding the DESPERATE measures we need to take for education! Go Bless our education sytem: all educators and students! May our children have a brighter and more promising future from the things that Barack has proposed! If he is able to do the things he says he is going to do: it will change my future for when I start looking for a job... it means higher pay for my family, resources/funds to do the job I love--- knowing my students are being taken care of by someone who loves them, with support from Uncle Sam (AND THE REST OF OUR NATION)!!!
Here's Obama's take on what I have mentioned above: http://usliberals.about.com/od/extraordinaryspeeches/a/ObamaNCLB_2.htm
THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS!!!

Way to go mama,
I think about what our children's education system will be like all the time. I know how you feel. I hope things change for the better, because as of right now the United States children are not that smart compared to other counties. We need to make some serious changes in our education systems.
