why do people act this way

I have a friend that Child Protective Services took her children last week.  She is denying all of the allegations against her.  She informed me today that if I continued to talk to her ex boyfriend, who is the last person who turned her in, that she would never talk to me again.  I am just waiting for the drug test results to come back because if she was doing the drugs then he was not wrong.  However, if she is clean, then he was wrong.  I am stuck between a rock and a hard spot right now.  A friendship of 18 years may just be thrown away but who is she to tell me I cant talk to someone.

REMEMBER THAT EVEN THOUGH SHE MIGHT BE USING DRUGS, SHE IS STILL A MOM, A PERSON WHO IS HURTING, AND MIGHT BE REACHING OUT FOR HELP.  SHE CERTAINLY HAS NO RIGHT TO TELL YOU WHO YOU CAN TALK TO, YOU ARE RIGHT, BUT DON'T TURN YOUR BACK ON  YOUR FRIEND.
