I Am Not Afraid

Darkness is not unknown to me.

An old acquaintance that I think of often

Is freedom really frightening?

Liberation is what I seek

Shaking of the shackles of society, conformity

Taking back control of my choice

Your unknown is not proven to be black

The vivid colors of missed opportunity surround me

The view is much improved

A new vantage point can be revealing

Peering in at the woman that is

Clawing my way out of the child that binds

I am not afraid

No.  Fear is long past gone

I am not afraid

My lack of fear is terrifying

I really like this piece. I commented on it in PJ, too.
