Like to eat out?? Read this!!!

Congratulations! You are going out to eat tonight!! It might seem simple, ordering appetizers, food, drinks, desserts but there are a few rules that should be followed. As a server, I just thought you should know what we only get paid $4 per hour (which isn't crap) and we pretty much depend on our tips to live. So if you're going out to eat tonight...

1. Don't send back food just because you don't like it. It's not fair to us, and it just loses the company more money.


2. If you ordered an item, but get something different, it always isn't the servers fault. Someone could have read your ticket wrong. No one is perfect.


3. If your steak isn't cooked the way you want it, it usually isn't the servers fault. Remember, we didn't cook your food.


4. If you don't have enough money for a tip, don't go out to eat. Tipping is a major role in dining out. Just order it to go, and you don't have to tip as much.


5. Don't tell the server that they were the best server ever and you will always sit with them, and not tip. Trust me, if you won't tip me, I don't want you to request me next time you go out.


6. We tell you our names in the greeting for a reason.
We are not 'hey' 'yo' or 'waitress'

7. Don't make comments on how we look. We are people just like you and have feelings. Would you treat your mother that way?

8. If we don't give you good service, let us know. We want to know what we can do to serve you better next time.


9. While tipping, don't assume that 15% or doubling the tax is enough. Some restaurants have a tipping guide if you're not sure. And most cell phones these days also have a tipping guide.


10. Some places add gratuity. Don't bitch or complain, just pay it. And its ok to give the server an additional tip. Trust me, we don't mind.


11. If the server did an exceptional job, don't be afraid to tell the manager on duty.
Too many people only complain not compliment

12. If you're going to come in 10 minutes before closing, please don't stay for 2 hours. We would like to go home. We have a life, too.


13. Make sure you look at the menu and know what you are ordering. The menu is there for a reason, and it tells you what is in each item.


14. If you have coupons or discounts you will be using, let the server know ahead of time. Tell them that they should give you a copy of the original receipt as well as the new one, so they know how much the bill really was. I can't count how many times a person's bill was originally $40 and got discounted to $10. Still should tip on the original bill, not give a bad tip just because the bill was low. And since the bill was discounted, there should be more money for a tip.


15. Let the servers say what they have to say at the beginning. Inturrupting is rude.


16. If you order an alcoholic drink, remember the servers who work for a corporate restaurant have to abide by the rules. They put alcohol in your drink, even if you can't really taste it. And its aways cheaper to go to the liquor store after.


17. If you order an alcoholic drink, don't get wasted. It ruins the dining experience of others.


18. If you're going to smoke weed before going out, try to spray yourself with something. Because you stink.


19. Control your children. Don't let them run about in the dining room. As much as we love children, we can trip over them. They can get hurt.


20. Don't threaten to sue your server over something stupid. Remember, we work off our tips. Most of us don't have money anyway.


21. Don't swear at us. It isn't nice and some people could get offended.


22. Don't go out to eat if you're in a bad mood. And if you do, don't take it out on the restaurant staff. Bad mood spread like wildfires.


23. Oh, and the number 1 rule, please make sure you have enough money to pay your bill. Not paying your bill means you are a total scumbag and some restaurants make the servers pay for the bill. It's not cool. We have families at home and bills to pay.

I know dining out should be a wonderful experience. I'm sick and tired of busting my ass for people and not getting a tip. It happens way too much at a lot of restaurants. Other than that, have a good time!! And for those of you who do go out to eat, and you tip your server accordingly, thank you.
