My Momogram.... with pics...could this be you?

Okay before we get to the pics let me fill you in on a little bit of my history. I have only had one mammogram done prior to this one. I guess you could say I just kept putting it off. Like so many of us we put all others before ourselves.

It's been 7 years since I have had one and with some pushing and prodding from some of you here I finally decided to make Oct (Breast Cancer Awareness month) the month that I would finally get my much needed exam.

To my shock when she was examining my breasts she found a lump. How could this be I asked myself? I had just given myself an exam and felt nothing. Well not only will I need to get a mammogram but I will also need to get an ultrasound done.

2 hours in the hospital I waited. First for the mammogram and then again for the ultra sound. Women came and went, however a few of us waited. You could feel the tension. Who would be the next to get the "news". Would it be me?

Well the next evening I got a call from my doctor and she said even though the films didn't show anything since the lump could be felt she wanted me to see a surgeon to see if I would need a biopsy. Great!! I hate needles! Would they have to surgically remove something? Thoughts raced in my head for the next week and 1/2.

Okay lets look at the scenarios. It could be nothing.... if it's cancer, it could be treated...if I had to loose some breast..that would be okay, I mean I've got triple d's, I've got lots to work with!

The surgeon said some mumbo jumbo scientific name to what I have and in lame-mans terms it means I have large, dense, lumpy breasts!! Thank God!!! I will need to go back in 6 months to have it re checked however.

Ladies Please do not put this off!!   If you didn't do it last month do it now this month. I hate to think what this could have been. I know there are so many moms on here dealing with or have delt with what this could have been. Don't let it be you!

They said its best for me to do it because they are so full of stuff-lumps,lol!!they thought id notice something diff. before they would.

Nov. 14, 2008 at 9:58 PM Glad that it was just that you have lumpy breasts and not something serious. mine are very dense and lumpy too, just like my moms. It sucks.
