Julie411me's Journal

I'm the meanest mom, ever.

Top ten things I used to do when I snuck into my big sister's bedroom (around 1970).

1.  Sample her make up, especially nice thick coats of powder blush and blue or green eyeshadow.  I'm sure no one noticed.

2.  Sniff her trolls and because some had perfumed hair.

3.  Try on her love beads (AKA Indian beads)

4.  Snoop in her closet, pay special attention to the top shelf where she kept her creepiest games and toys that she had mostly outgrown, but still liked so they were off limits to me:  Kaballa, creepy crawlers, Oujia board and more.

5.  Admire myself in the mirror and try to look cool and pretty and mature like her.

6.  Walk around in her platform sandals.

7.  Help myself to her colored notebook paper, especially purple and pink, being careful to take small amounts that wouldn't be missed.

8.  Look at the creeps in her yearbook and try to read the inscriptions in messy and mysterious junior high school cursive writing.

9.  Search for notes from her friends that were folded into tight triangles or squares and OF COURSE read them although I had no idea what most of it meant.

10.  Inspect her gum wrapper chains.  How DID she do that so neatly? Have a good sniff of the various gum scents that still lingered.

BONUS*
11.   Help myself to a bit of tasty big sister gum if I was sure I could do so without it being noticed.  For example, I could usually take a bite off that glorious giant brick of gum known as "mouth full" (which was not easy to do if you had loose teeth) without it being too noticable.   Bubs Daddy Gum in it's long, slender wrapper in Green Apple or Grape was often on hand too, right there on the dresser, practically offering itself to me.  Who could resist?

Sorry, Karen.  Love you!

What is your age difference?  My sister and I are both 37 from Nov to Dec 27 (I was a preemie).

I remember thinking she was so popular because she smoked. It was until later that I learned t had nothing to do with cigs ... lmao  ;)

I tried the Oujia board once, she loved that thing.

I wanted to know what the big deal was.

When the piece moved across the board without me making it, i freaked.

Thought God was forever going to be mad me. Never touched one again.

I am 45 and my sister is almost 8 years older.  So when I was 7 she would have been about 15.  Oujia boards freak me out too.

That had to be cool to have a big sister to look up to an admire. Mine was a trouble maker but we are best friends.

Hmmm this makes me wonder what my brothers might have been doing in my room.  I'm the big sister, so I didn't have anyone to snoop on.  Except my parents.  I think I searched their dressers & closets regularly, LOL.

I used to go through my sister's drawers and look at her miniskirts and grown-up-looking panties.  She is only 2 years older than me though.
