Here is another message I got from a friend. They really bless me, now it's time to pass it on...
I often think about the quote I once read in John Piper's book "Dont Waste your Life".
"God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.
"
Great quote, IF and only IF we know how to find satisfaction in him. If you think about the "American Dream" of always wanting more: The Rich man is fearful that his money mightgo away and he will be left with nothing. The average joe wants to out gain his neighbor to have each bigger and better thing. Countries are at war because they cannot be content with what they have.
This leads me to reflect on the life of Paul.
He tells the Philippian church in chapter 4:11-13:
"11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
"
Paul states here that he knows both sides of the story. He knows what it's like to have a lot and to not have anything. He knows how it feels to once be well like by the "world" and at the time of writing this he knows what it feelslike to be persecuted.
So this begs the question, "How can Paul be "Content? How can he be satisfied in whatever state he is in? What if all hell breaks lose on the life of Paul?"
The answer to this is simply Christ. "I can do all things through Christ who stregthens me!" It's in Christ Jesusthat we find satisfaction. It's him that we drink and neverthirst again. It's in him we find satisfaction for our hunger eternally. It's him that we take shelter and find refuge.
So whatever state you may be in, remember this: Jesus Loves you and he cares for you and most of all he promises to take care of you. Search no more for your contentment.
Give the reigns of your life to Christ so that he may glorify himself in you thorugh your satisfaction of him!
I hope this gives you drive today! We can find all the answers to life's questions in the very one that gave us life!
