I love Cafemom and everyone on it, but this upsets me so much

Christian bashing.....its a disturbing trend around cafemom. I wish I could understand why non christians are so hateful towards us. What have we done. I know alot of christians will preach to non christians but that hardly seems a reason to hate. I am a christian a baptist but I dont' hate the jehoviah witness's that are just up the road from me for coming to my house at least once a month and trying to convert me. I have friends of all religions, and never have I hated them for being who they are.
I just read a post in another journal , that stated in the very first sentence, "I'll probably get a lot of slack from the Christians on this one" sorry not a direct quote but close enough. Then it went on to say, for the rest of you if think this is a travesty.....
Why does she think that just because the story is about a wiccan mom loosing her babies that us christian mommies are going to think she deserves to loose her children. I don't blame the women who wrote the post nor do I judge her for it, because she is not the only one here with this attitude about Christians. I've seen it so many times. I notice it a lot in political post. people seem to think we are closed minded bigots who think that anyone who doesn't believe the same as we do are beneath us. Nothing could be farther from the truth!!!
Meanwhile....why do I have to be tolerant of everyone elses religion when it seems no one is tolerant of mine! I mean honestly, why is that people come one here and continuously talk trash about Christians and no one says a word but I'd have my ass handed to me if I dared utter a bad word about wicca or any other religion for that matter.
It makes me so upset that this is the attitude that non christians have towards christians. It's one of the last forms of disscrimination allowed in america, along with making fun of fat people.

It goes both ways on this site. Christians bashing non-christians and non-christians bashing Christians. What should be remembered is it is often not the beliefs themselves that are being bashed but the attitudes of the people behind them.
this is yet another two-way street.
i don't bash Christians because i have friends that are and love them like sisters. i will say things like "over zealous bible thumpers" but that is in regards to the ones who will not accept that you do not believe they way they do, who won't let it go, who try to force a religion onto someone, that are extremist, and do nothing but hunt non-believer and non-conformist down. its just an obversation i've made.
Well, I can up one on ya,lol. Try getting pistol whipped by fellow Christians...Not on just one journal, but TWO...All about how non-Christian-like you are because you are friends with non-Christians....They take what you said in your own journal, then beat you over the head with it for not being a "true" Christian.
Read John 17....It is where Jesus prays for us....in vs 14 He says....the world has hated them because they are not of the world ......so guess what....they hate the Spirit of God in us because He is a convicting Spirit....convicting and drawing them....we are just called to be the salt....and to many Christians are afraid to tell the truth in love....some don't know the truth and others don't know how to say it in love...
I agree with Kristie; it definately goes both ways. You run into a lot of people determined to prove themselves right who unfortunately resort to scummy comments and personal attacks when others don't agree. In a perfect world, we would all have open minds and engage in friendly debates where we listen with open minds......being that we are on CM which I beliee to be entirely fueled by raging hormones, I'd say that's about as likely as finding a dinosaur in a field of daisies.
its even harder being a punk/goth/different looking and believing in God, i get so many hate e-mails asking if its a joke that i believe in God, wtf. the way i look shouldnt matter. i just think its funny usually the people who claim to be so open minded towards people are the ones who seem to bash everyone the most.
good afternoon fellow christians and non christians cuz i know you are here...i am so proud of my daughter,,,shes the one who started this post. i agree with the one lady who talked about the bible thumpers i even make fun of them sometimes cuz they really can get on your nerves but i am so proud of them on the other hand cuz really its what all christians should be doing according to the bible any way we should all be that zealous over our Lord but hey i figure its just one more thing i will have to answer for when its my turn and im also one who used to think that if you dressed or acted like the goth girl you could not possibly be a christian... imo being a christian is on the inside not the outside its what we do with our life. lets say there is a goth girl or boy out there who as never heard the gosspel cuz they think it can only come from or for the sterotype christian and the only way they will hear it is from one of there own (goth) no insult intended just didnt know how eles to say it. God loves us all not just the ones who wear suits every sunday which really isnt the jest of this post but i kinda got side tracked. yes donna it does seem we must be tolorate of everyone but heaven forbid anyone should give us some rites. like at my grandchildrens christmas concert at school it can no longer be called christmas concert its a holiday celabration they cant sing anything like away in amanger but have to sing a jewish song and last yr couldnt even sing white christmas!!! ok enough ranting loves ya donna
I sit back and read alot but don't comment and I have to say I've not noticed as much of the Christians looking to instigate, but rather getting defensive and standing up for themselves more than anything. I find myself wondering if some of the posts written in a negative tone about Christians would be found intolerant if they were written about another religion or orientation of sorts. The biggest problem on both sides is the generalizing and stereotyping because its always going to offend someone.
