Making A Difference!

My husband and I recently started hosting a home group for our church called House Communities. Our church raised money for each House Community to go out in the community and make a difference by using our skills, labor and or money,

We hooked up with a wonderful young couple from Australia that are now starting a church in our local community.  The church they are taking over has been vacant for several months.  It needs tons of work and that is what we went there to do today, work.  We helped clean up the courtyard and the room they will use for the food pantry.  This couple doesn't even have their apartment ready yet but they have their food boxes ready to hand out for Thanksgiving from their food pantry!  AMAZING.

The kids went with us today to help clean up and they had a blast, picking up rocks, playing and just hanging out while us parents digged in the dirt, cleaned up debri and have our own fun.  It felt good to work for God.  I have been having a bit of stress serving in a different capacity and this was just plain fun serving with my brothers and sisters in Christ with no animocity, no negativity, no attitude, just working together to make a difference for others in our community.

The coolest thing, the people who will eventually worship there, be saved there and come to know Christ  in the church, will never know what we did to help get the church ready for them to be there.  We all belong to a different church in Ventura but the same denomination.  We are just there to help get this church off the ground.  It's such a cool feeling to be there and know how many lives we are touching without ever knowing who they will be!

I hope we go back soon.  We are also looking into some other places to serve. Can't wait till this all comes about!
