I have another one here from a good friend to share with all of you!!
I have heard a lot of my Youth mention to me that they struggle with sin. Not necessarily sin in "General" but a more specific form of Sin.
They tell me, "I feel that I can't stop "insert sin here". It's so much fun and I feel as if I have a desire for it.
"
If you think about it, if Sin weren't fun, would we not all be good? If Satan didn't have the power of making sin desirable then it would be of no use to us. I believe that there are a few things that we have to realize in order to release ourselves from the sin that we are in.
1.
Confess it to our Lord and Savior!
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" 1 John 1:9
When I say confess, I am meaning "Confess" with your lips that particular sin that you are struggling with. I mean if it's Pornagraphy, it should be addressed to our God as "God please forgive me for the desire and use of pornapgraphy that I have. If it's Gossiping, "God forgive me for Gossiping." So on and so on. God wants to know that "we" realize the sin is ever present in our lives.
2.
Repent from Sin
"Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;" Acts 3:19
We use this word a lot, yet I believe there is a sum of people that don't realize what this word really means. I believe "Repent" is often times mixed up with confessing. If one truly repents, t his means that they "Turn Away from it". Almost as if you never look back. Can we truly repent and yet fail later on in life? Absolutely, however perfect repentence means we will not return to it.
3.
Prepare ourselves for the enemy!
Just like any other war story, movie or script, a great commander prepares his army for what is ahead. Spiritual warfare, between the flesh and the spirit, right and wrong, is no different. If a commander were to send his soldier to a gun fight with a knife, chances are that soldier will not see another day. It goes beyond equipment. It's game planning. In any sport you have to have a game plan for your opponent. Your job is to out smart or out play your opponent.
Refer to the book of Ephesians when it states:
"10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
We know by reading the above, that it takes preparation for us to not fall back into the same mess that we came out of. Above all else we have to have a strong relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I don't mean some lond distance relatioship that you may talk once or twice a week but an intimate one that makes us say, "I can't get enough!"
Then we equip our selves with the ARMOR OF GOD. This will allow us to have protection against the schemes of the devil and allows us to prevent the revisitation of that sin again.
I hope this allows all to have a great day and relief from whatever sin you might be in. Remember this: Confess, Repent and Prepare.
Three steps that if completed and carried out will help us with our battle against sin!
"And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world" (1 John 2:1-2)
