Argh! I'm so frustrated right now. My sister (who is my child's daycare provider) texted me this afternoon to tell me that another child in her care had whooping cough. So I called my son's doctor and asked what, if anything, I needed to do. She said to get him on an antibiotic and she called in a Rx.
Then I called my sister and she told me that the child's mother didn't know for sure that her child had whooping cough or a "croupy" cough. BIG difference! Don't you think if your child had whooping cough that that would be something you'd remember? And not go around saying your kid had whooping cough when it was something else? Good grief. Now I'm waiting for this woman to call my sister back and let her know for sure what it is her daughter has so my sister knows whether or not to call all the other parents and get their children on antibiotics or if this was all just a big misunderstanding.
What a mess! I just don't understand how some people can be so cavalier about such a serious disease.
*update*
After 2 days of waiting, the mother of the child in question FINALLY got back in touch with my sister and her daughter did have whooping cough. I had been waiting to hear from her so I knew whether or not to give Bren the anitbiotics. So . . . now to give them.
Giving my son medicine is like bathing a bobcat. Any suggestions?
