I just need to vent a little.
Yesterday was my 34th birthday. The only one who remebered to say Happy Birthday, was my soon to be 4 year old son. He did that as soon as he got up. My DH got up and told me and the boys to get ready because they were going to get a haircut. After the haircut we went to breakfast, still no Happy Birthday from him. He told me he wasn't feeling well and he gave his Dr. a call. He Dr. called in some antibiotics to the pharmacy for him to pick up. While he picked up his medicine me and the boys stayed in the truck. I called the house to check messages and my Mom said to call her back. By the time I checked her message 2 hours already went by and I gave her a call. She said "Oh, I forgot what I was going to tell you." That didn't surprise me because she can be forgetful. When we get home, Carson is asleep so we put him in the crib and I told my DH that I was going to Kohl's to by clothes. He stayed home with the boys. I was depressed because nobody remebered my B-day. I had two messages from my CafeMom friends saying Happy Birthday buy none of my friends at home or family. I was feeling sorry for myself. You have to understand I love Birthdays, whether mine or for other people. It can be such a fun day. But this day was probably my 2nd worst. I understand that my DH was not feeling well, but he could have said Happy Birthday!
I get to the store and try on alot of clothes. Since I am depressed I barely like any I try on. I feel ugly, fat, look to old or I am trying to look to young in them. I finally find some that I like. While trying on clothes my cell phone rings, it is my Mom. We don't have a good connection but I call her back in a couple of minutes. She said she remebered what she wanted to tell me, she saw a fan in the paper she wanted and for me to pick up when I get a chance. My Mom has health issues and can't drive. She then asks "What's wrong?" and my response is "Nothing". She asks me again and then I say "Did you leave me an important message on the phone?" She said "About what?" My reply "About what today is?" She said "Oh, Happy Birthday. I can't believe I forgot. I rembered yesterday when you were over." I told her that was why I was upset because the only one who remebered was my son, not you, my hubby or anyone else.
The whole day went by with no one calling to say anything. Not even a call today. We didn't do a thing all weekend. My DH was sick yesterday and I am sick today. We did go out Friday night to dinner, all of us but, we were supposed to go out without the boys on Saturday. My DH and boys did go out around 5:00 p.m. yesterday to get my gifts and some flowers. Oh and by the way my DH did finally say Happy Birthday at 3:45 p.m.
I know - The thought should count. But I don't think they realize how bad my feelings are hurt.
Comments:
I just read you post and I am so sorry that everyone forgot. I have been there. My Aunt got married the day before my 16th birthday and my entire family forgot. My mom finally said Happy Birthday like a week later. I still remember the hurt and anger I felt even back then. I am glad to see that I am one of the Cafe Mom friends that remembered to say Happy Birthday!!! Makes me feel better about my self. Not that it helps you too much. I am sorry you had a lousy day.
