Have you heard of the game scruples? Well I am going to fine tune it to fit our specific situation. Every day I will post an issue that someone has with Universal Health Care. Then you can jump in and add your specific comment, thought, or idea about that specific issue. If you have an idea for a scruple, please PM me and I will try to post it for you.

Please take the time to read and think carefully of the question.  Even if you oppose Universal Health Care please feel free add in and make constructive thought into the conversation.

Today's issue:

If we switch to Universal Health Care, what will we do with all the employees of HMO companies?

That would ultimately be the answer MSugarKane.  Alot of people believe that UHC in place would result in all Private Health Companies being squashed.  Which is not necessarily the case.  Still, there is going to be a need for a "gradual" breakdown of the private health sector.  It wouldn't be immediate.  Slowly, it would be phased out as UHC came in.  The workers in the companies can help to install the new UHC, there will be a need for call centre's, backup assistance, people working in federal, state and local offices for a Medicare Office (UHC).  So workers can choose at their own discretion - to either accept a redundant pay package.  OR they can be retrained to work in other areas under UHC.

just like any industry going out of business...them must learn new skills...adapt and overcome.  we've been doing it to other industries, such as manufacturing, for years now.  there will be positions to be filled in a new health care system, of course.
