Here's a blog that gives a non-comprehensive list: http://www.sciencebase.com/science-blog/melamine-contaminated-food-list.html and Google is your friend, of course, as you seek more information. The tricky part is that it does not have to be listed as Melamine! It falls under the category of "protein." The best thing to do is to stop buying pre-packaged foods, because anything that's made up of a bunch of refined and/or synthetic ingredients is suspect. Cook from scratch - veggies, fruits, individual seasonings, grains and legumes, meats, eggs, milk, etc.
Even our meats, eggs, plain dairy products, etc. could contain traces of it, because it has been used mixed in with feeds for livestock, and the soil can contain traces of it as well, which means to a certain degree it can be absorbed into produce.
Ultimately, we need to educate ourselves and then force the FDA to put a stop to allowing it into our country. We can't force them to take it off of the approved list, but we can stop buying products known to contain it and avoid anything suspect.
The weird thing is I googled and googled before I asked you that question and I couldn't find much. Everything that pulled up was from back in October when they originally found it in the baby formula in China. Weird. Thanks for the link!
Okay I'm confused now....I haven't heard anything about Melamine in those products and I thought a lot of them were made in the USA. Can you explain that? I'm just confused and want to know what to avoid.
I have voted popular. I also made a journal post about the timeline, please direct people my way as well, let's get the word out! http://www.cafemom.com/journals/read/1316746/All_about_the_benjamins_the_melamine_formula_scandal
