Why Why Why Why Why????

Im nervous about AJs heart surgery. He is such a little fighter and the great part about this surgery is that his next surgery will not be a surgery at all... They said his heart is too small this time but NEXT time they will be able to replace his valve with just a CATH!!!! Ugh I wish that were this time. They said he has a higher chance of bleeding this time because after 2 open heart surgeries he has scar tissue on his heart. They said that these surgeries will all put stress on his heart when he gets older. How I wish I could trade places with him. I would give anything.

We have already started planning for him. We got him about 15 dvds for Christmas so he will have plenty to watch while hes in the hospital. We bought him a V.Smile Pocket so he can play video games and my mother in law bought him a MP3 player so he can listen to his favorite songs. He wont get any of these things until "Santa" brings them to him but I cant wait to see the look on his face when he opens them up. He is such a strong boy. I am most concerned about the initial shock of handing him over to the surgeon. I hope i get to stay with him until he falls asleep. My strong little fighter. This will be Open heart surgery number 3, 4th surgery total.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Its never easy to explain surgery/hospital stays to a 3 (almost 4) year old. I just hope this all goes by quickly and easily.

I don't know how you do it. Ryan's one surgery was enough for me. I am always thinking about him and praying for him. Hang in there.
