To sum it up, the woman lost custody of her 2 year old child to her husband. The report mentioned not just her being Wiccan (which she claimed she was kidding when she said it,) as well as his having dirt under his finger nails, a dirty face, and a fungal rash on his face. Another issue brought up was her having been prescribed anxiety meds and sleep aids, but she wasn't taking them. There is so much more to the story, but it would be redundant to list it here.
In any case, many moms spoke against her, saying there must have been more that lead the judge to rule in the father's favor. Many agreed that 2 year olds get dirty, and that was not a good reason to label her a bad parent. On the other hand, many of those same parents were dubious about how a kid could get a fungal rash on their face.
Maybe I shook my fist a little to hard at the gods. I mentioned that I didn't think a fungal rash on the face was all that odd. People were still skeptical.
Well, MY 2 year old has a fungal rash on her face now. We adopted 2 stray kittens around the same time that post came out. Turns out at least one of them has, or is a carrier of ringworm. Both of my daughters and I have it. My youngest is the only one who has it on their face ATM.
So, let me lay out the parallels. I'm Wiccan, she may or may not be Wiccan. I'm bipolar, technically more troublesome than anxiety and insomnia. I have been off meds before. Once while I was pregnant with my youngest, because of the possibility of birth defects. The other was when we had no insurance and my husband was out of work. You can't buy RX's when you can't afford them, or the doc visits to get the scripts in the first place. My two year old gets dirty, and I sometimes take her out in public that way. Her kid went to his dad's house dirty, once, at least as far as the records state.
The only thing we have different is that I am happily married, and she was facing a bitter divorce.
Raise your hand if you think someone should call CPS on me!

I read the link. I cannot believe it is because she is wiccan! I am not very familiar with the term, but I saw something in TV. It is horrible, terrible that somebody take you child away because he is against your believes!! The judge is using all his power to destroy her !
I think it's sad. If they were to take all the kids away from parents who have a similar story (myself included) they would have to take millions of kids away! ...& yet sometimes the kids that REALLY need to be taken out of a home end up staying, & getting abused, or even killed...some "justice" system!
Having lost custody of my own son, I am of the opinion that none of the factors mentioned really had anything to do with it. Her ex just had a better lawyer. My ex lied blatantly in court, and even though I was able to show he was wrong, he had a scumbag lawyer (the kind you see in movies and think "oh, there can't really be people like that") and he one primary custody, then took my son and disappeared. I told the judge he would do it, the judge didn't listen. And now I haven't seen my child for over 6 years and there isn't a thing I can do about it unless I magically come into several thousand dollars to spend on private investigators and lawyers. The system sucks, period.

I did not read the story, but reading your post I am wondering how on earth it is a reason to take a child away from his mom " dirt in fingers and face". About her meds, I know there are so many doctors that try to fix everything with pills. Did she really need them? does the court investigate the effects of not taking the pills? All sound kind of bogus. The only think difficult to understand was the fungus in the face, but after your explanation, someone should investigate if the baby was in contact with pets.
