It was a show updating on past guest.

They showed a picture of a girl named Kaylee.

Kaylee's father had been accused of doing inappropriate things to her and they were updating saying he had been arrested for possesion of child porn and illegal usage of a computer. That made me ill but I was happy to see him put away for something.

They then showed a picture of Kaylee now saying she is happy and doing better.

Kaylee was shown riding in a no back booster seat only being restrained by the lap belt portion.

This made me cringe and brought up another passion of mine other than keeping children from sexual predators, car seat safety.

So many children in the US are either in the WRONG seat or in a seat that is installed improperly.

The #1 killer of children in the US is car accidents.

Should we not be doing all we can to keep our most precious cargo as safe as possible?!

I emailed Dr. Phil and told him how important a show on car seat safety would be. How guests such as the parents of Kyle Miller, a child who was killed when he was involved in a car accident at the age of 3 being restrained in a high back booster. Had he been in a 5 point harness he most likely would have walked away from the accident. Also car seat experts and pediatricians explaining the benefits of extended rear facing would be great as well.

After watching the video on Kyle David Miller I quickly went out and bought Graco Nautilus car seats for each of my three kids, ages 7, 5, and 2 1/2. They will remain in those seats until they reach the height or weight restrictions. Then it will convert into a high back booster.

Please email Dr. Phil if this is something you would like to see a show on. I also mentioned cafemom and the Car Seat Safety group. Go to Dr.Phil.com and  click contact the show at the top of the page, then on the left side of the next page click email the show!

Here is Kyle David's video and a video on extended rear facing.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to this post and if you agree please vote popular so as many moms as possible will see this post.

Ducky, recently, I had no idea I was using my son's car seat wrong. I went to a car seat safety check, and they showed me the proper way. I would love to see something this important on the Dr. Phil show.

Thanks Harley! She is a very petite 7 yr old...she's only a few pounds heavier than her brother and about an inch taller. Heck when I was a kid we were just thrown in the back...times have really changed.

its amazing to me how many people do not understand car seat safety. My mom has a "spare" carseat at her house that she uses when my son and daughter are there. We live in Utah so often we will fly to Washington or we will drive, and if we fly its hard to bring two toddler 5 point seats, so she told me just to bring my daughters, assuring me she had one for my son at home already.. I was shocked when I saw that it was a booster and she was buckling him up with the seatbelt.. hes not even 40 pounds yet and he is 3 years old! She still doesnt understand why I wont let him ride in that seat.. and my nephews (3 and 5) both ride in them all the time, with their mom and anyone else they ride with.. it scares me. I wish that it was required by insurance companies or even the department of motor vehicles that parents pass a test or have their car-seats checked for safety. People may say that's extreme and yes it is.. but if it saved your childs life, wouldnt it be worth it? If thats what it takes to make American GET IT.. its so worth it.

i'm so glad i stumbled on this post.  i'll be e-mailing dr phil too!  i always see kids improperly seated or carseats improperly installed and it's so sad to me.  i've even stopped people in parking lots and left notes on people's cars before!  =)  so many deaths could be avoided if people would just pay attention to the regulations and read their owners manual!
