Well, as some of you may know we have had a time with Ethan, he is our ADHDer, we have been through hell and back trying to find the right med and dose as most of ya'll do. Our first med was focalin XR and it was horrible, we went from 5mg to 20 mg with each time things getting worse, so the Dr. switched to vyvanse 50mg and it was great, no more meltdowns, moodswings, tearing up his toys, he made honor roll, he played, rode his bike..well you get the picture things were GREAT!!!!!! But after a short time on vyvanse we started to see the hand flapping, avoiding eye contact, lineing all his toys up, playing with the same toy the same way over and over again, not playing with other children his age or isolating himself from kids his age, talking through us etc.....we thought we didn't see this odd behavior because the ADHD was out of control and now that it was under control thats why we started to see the other stuff, so we took him to waccamaw mental heath to have him eveluated there and they sent me to the devolmental ped.

Well we finally went to see the devolmental ped after waiting 4 months, my sons psychatrist wanted him to go to be re-evaluated to make sure it was ADHD or something else, this office thought he might have a form of autism and wanted his IQ tested also.  Oh and he was dxed with PDD about 2 months ago.

Yesterday we went to see the devol. ped and he did not like the combo of vyvanse and clonidine, he did not like the dose, he also did not agree with the PDD or ADHD hyperactive, he feels ethan is not PDD and feels he is ADHD inattenive type, and wanted him on a lower dose of short acting med. He also believes Ethan is /can have a LD, even tho he scored a 125 on the IQ test, and even tho he is 6 he is working at a 4th grade level or about age 9-10.

So I did agree to change his meds and we are weening him off the clonidine, I hope things go good but I am very nervous and relieved only because my sons regular ped never did any blood work to see if his liver was working right and not damaged from the meds, and he was giving my son meds too high for his age and weight, he was giving him doses equal to what an adult would take. I do hope he puts on some weight he is so thin.

I am not knocking my regular ped and my son was not hurt by the meds, I just wished I knew more of what tests etc. should be done to check/monitor for problems, and I wished he would have referred me to a specilist that deals with ADHD all the time, from the begining which was almost two years ago.

We do have an appointment with a neurologist on the 22nd and I will keep that apt. more for a second opinion, I have so many diffrent people telling me diffrent things, I am so confused.

Well ladies I have said all I need to at the moment, if you have any advise please send it my way.

Sorry so long, thanks for those of you that read all of this.
