i was at the mall play area with my 2 1/2 year old and then 4 month old(learning to crawl)... i met a lady who was a grandma of a 3 year old little girl... the lg had tripped over my 4 month old(no harm done)and the grandma had diciplinned her(made her sit for a min, then lectured her).. i was shocked, but happy the grandma andi started talked.... watching our kids.... the lg went down the slide, and accidently landed on a 6 month old(think)who had crawled(after she went)in frount of the slide... the grandma jumped up and did what i think should have been done... again... but the 6 month olds aunt was pissed... she started ranting and raving and yelling that she was going to beat the little girl!!! the women was causing, stomping, and almost steped on my 4 month old!!! i kindly told her to 'please calm down, and stop cussing, there are kids present' and she went off on me.... telling me i was a 'typicle white person who dont take care of her kids'(btw, she was black) i called security(there was a phone right next to the play area to call them) she then made my two year old cry, cause she was yelling at him... up till this point, i think i was culm... well, i picked him up to colm him, and i looked at her and told her 'race has nothing to do with it, your throwing a temper tantrom, making kids cry, almost stepping on a baby, and threatining a 3 year old!!! you need to get yourself togeather, and stop using the color of your skin as a crutch for your poor attitude'... i just could not beleive her!!!! i dont see color of skin, i dont care.... even with a doll....... a persons heart, and attitude are what counts

I hate those kind of situations. Reverse racism is really common where I live.

Don't worry you did your best to be calm and rational.

thanks... my dh saw me ... i would not say talking, but not yelling, maybe raising my voice... to this lady(he was walking back from getting our lunch)and was shocked.. cause i am NOT like that... i am a 'keep the peice, back off, not worth it' type of girl.. .but this lady went too far!!! almost steping on one of my boys, making the other cry, threatening a 3 year old, and throwing a tantrum!!! wow... he later told me that he was not sure if he needed to jump in and protect me(i guess he said looked like the lady was crazy, and might get violent)or to let me handle it.... even the mom of the boy, this ladys sis, looked embarrassed... she was escorted out of the mall btw... by saying things like what she said, its saying its ok to be not only racisit(no matter what race, i was a 'victom' of raceism)and to use your race as a crutch

Yup, agree 100%

Good job for speaking up for yourself. Our country has a long way to go in recovering peaceful race relations but whipping out the race card every time an exchange is between two people of different skin color is not the way to do it. Besides it sounds like she really lost her temper and I really dislike it when people use really fowl language in front of kids. Oh and of course, stepping on other people's kids is NEVER okay! (or coming close to it)
