Well I finally popped :-)

I was schedualed for an induction Monday morning, I would have been 41 weeks 1 day. I cancelled because I decided it was unnecessary. Well Monday I woke up and started having contractions at 9 Am that were 4-6 minutes apart. I ignored them all day until I went to bed at 11.

I got into bed and the contractions got MUCH stronger with each one until finally I thought to myself "this is it" and at that exact second I felt POP and my water had broken :-)

The water was slightly green so i was concerned and the contractions were completely in my back and very intense at about 2-4 minutes apart. We arrived at the hospital at 2 AM. My son still had not engaged at all but the contractions were only in my back and VERY painful to the point where at 6 Am I needed the epidural despite my original plan to go natural. I cannot say enough good things about the epi, i am VERY grateful that i was able to feel my legs, and pressure with every contraction but without the horrible back pain.

I got to 8cm by 10 AM and then 9.5 at 12. And then I just stopped dialating. I sat at 9.5 for 3 hours before I decided to let them run a small amount of pitocin which still took an hour or so to do anything. Finally at around 4 pm I was given the ok to push which was a good thing because the epi was fantastic for my back but I was feeling the pressure of every contraction in my vagina which I am actually grateful for because I wanted to feel something.

I pushed for about 2.5 hours. It was AMAZING. Pushing was not nearly as painful or uncomfortable as I expected, it felt like the greatest relief every time I pushed, and I only pushed when I felt the urge, not on command. I felt like I was in my own world the whole time I pushed, I had a job and nothing could interrupt my concentration. Finally, at 6:31 Grant's head came out followed quickly by his shoulder, arm, and then the rest of his body!!! I have never felt so good in my life, the relief was imediate!! I did get a second degree tear but it isn't that bad.

But now for the fun stuff!!

Name: Grant Michael

Weight: 9 pounds 7 ounces!!

Length: 21 1/4

Just about to push

I hope this isn't too graphic, but YES his head was coming out here
