A Peek Into My World

Yay!! The sink is finally in! We have been remodeling our upstairs bathroom and my awesome husband (who also happens to be a plumber) has done all of the work himself, with the exception of the plastering and the electrical wiring. He completely gutted the hideous thing - he even took the walls down - and built it back from scratch.

There are still finishing touches that need to be done: putting on the closet door, painting the pocket door, putting a switchplate on the light/fan switches, installing a medicine cabinet and sconces on either side of it, putting up a shower rod and shower curtain, doing window treatments, and getting things up like the towel bar and toilet paper holder. But I am THRILLED about the progress so far!

Here are some before and during photos (we won't call them "after" photos because we're not done yet) ....

Hallway view before - That's as far as the door would open becuase it would hit the sink, and there was a linoleum floor, which was honestly the most attractive part of the bathroom.

Hallway view now - A  pocket door solved that problem, and we laid a beauuuuuuuutiful new ceramic tile floor (which is more gray than brown - this photo throws you off).

Gross bathtub before, complete with a two-tone liner.

Bathtub now - brand new, with beautiful WHITE tile (notice the black accent tiles toward the top).

Sink & toilet before - Please tell me who decides to put up that horrible wallpaper and pink plastic tile on the walls. And I will again reiterate that we couldn't open the door any further because it hit the sink. See?

Sink & toilet now - We got rid of the plastic pink tile and picked a very pretty blue paint for the walls (which looks even better in person), changed the trim to white, and gained all that space next to the sink by installing the pocket door!

Closeup of sink and toilet before - I think the photo speaks for itself. Old, ugly, gross, yuck, disgusting, hideous, UGH. (Here's the best view of that stupid door hitting that stupid sink.)

Closeup of sink and toilet now - Again, the photo speaks for itself. New, beautiful, pretty, YAY! I'm a huge fan of the pedestal sink that replaced that thing that was hung on the wall before.

I'll be sure to update this post when the bathroom renovation is complete!

Looks great. We just did a bathroom and kitchen remodel this summer. It sucks doing it but its definitely worth it when its finished. Now we have to do major landscaping next spring. :P

Looks awesome.  Can you show a pic of the new "pocket" door - I'm not too sure what kind of door that is.
