When I was little Christmas was about tradition and family.

My cousin and I would go to grandma's house the 22nd and make cookies and breads and help decorate the rest of the way , We would sing carols with my grandparents while we baked and Grandpa would play the organ.

On Christmas eve friends and family would all show up ( Between 50-100 people throughout the day )and bring a dish to pass and share memories and traditions and fill our Grandparents house Full of caring and sharing.

Of all the zillions of presants I got growing up (My parents were remarried ,I had 8 Christmases one yr ) Family and tradition was always my favorite part , and of all those gifts I can remember 3 or 4 over the years BUT the traditions and memories are still with me.

That is what I miss about celebrating the season. I want that back , yet no one gathers together anymore and their reason is "No money for gifts" SCREW THE GIFTS , come spend TIME , it's way more valuable.

Im very happy that we will be with my family this Christmas. My husband, daughter and I are flying from minnesota to houston texas a week from this friday. Its gonna be so much fun. I miss the traditions and having my family all together for the holidays. Its gonna be 5 generations together rylee, me, my mom, her mom, and her moms mom. So ry will have a great great grandma a great grandma a grandma and a mommy.. hehe We are decorating the tree together we are going to make holiday cookies cook christmas eve dinner and christmas day dinner together Rylee included. Its not really about the gifts at all except for rylee. None of us are getting the other things we're just getting stuff for rylee and are going to be together as a family.  Its going to be so special and im so happy its happening in a year where rylee is understanding more of whats going on she keeps saying when are we going to texas to see mimi and papa and nani and granny? I want to go NOW I need to give them kisses. hehe So your not the only one that christmas was about tradition and family.. i loved it every year no matter what I got for presents just as long as we were together and made good food it was always a good time. I just wish my great grandfather was still living.. I miss him most at christmas.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :)
