"Removing 'friends' " A new option? What?!! Excuse me?!!!

When you select the option of 'edit' friends this is the message that you will receive...

 

Friends List Cleanup

You may want to clean friends from your list who have not accessed CafeMom in a long time.

Cleaning up friends from your list will automatically remove friends who have not accessed CafeMom in the pre-defined period of time you select. This will also remove friends who are no longer part of CafeMom. Once a day, CafeMom will clean up your friends list according to this setting. You choose the time frame. You will not receive a list of who was removed.

 

This is a brand new option available at Cafe Mom. 

I ask myself WTH?  (please excuse the language, but WTH?)

Have we become such a consumer based society that people consume and dispose of 'friends' like recycling a coffee cup?

Is this 'friendship'?

I want to state loud and clearly...

My friends have nothing to worry about!  I don't care if you ever "access Cafe Mom"  you will still be my friend!

Calling someone a friend means more to me than just displaying a pix on my profile.  These are people...not collectible trading cards!

Why would someone opt for this "Friends clean up" program?

I can tell you my theory on why Cafe Mom placed it in their program.

$$$$$$$  MONEY....Advertising money.  Traffic on this site increases net value for advertising dollars!  Big dollars!

Your friends may feel 'black mailed' into checking into this site at least once every 30 days or risk the loss of 'friends'.   What a load of crap!

I can assure you...anyone who would delete me from their friends list because I have not 'accessed' cafe mom...was no friend of mine to begin with!

Before you 'clean up' your friends (uggh!  even the term is offensive!)  Anyway...Before you dump your friends....send them to me....i can never have too many friends!  ( Please note to send me a list of your friends before you choose this option, because you will not receive a list of those whom you have had 'edited' once this program is in place!)

For future friends that wish to invite/add me...if you choose to use this 'editing'  program...please don't even ask me to be a friend!

Sending hugs to all of my friends here!    May we have happy days together and never get deleted!  Oh my!...just when I think I have seen it all!

I wouldn't set my friends list to delete anyone automatically.  I don't have a huge friends list and I have a few people on there that don't visit cafemom for months at a time, but when they do I always enjoy hearing from them.

the only way i would ever remove someone from my list is if they left something ugly on my page, other than that, people get busy, they have lives other than the computer, especially this time of year.

Just stopping by for toy parts, and had to read this.  I had no idea!  This is crazy!  You are so right.  I like all my friends.  30 days off, doesn't make them misfits (oh Yes I have been watching too much Rudolf).  This is so sad!

Well,  I've been on Cafemom for forever  (LOL---well over a year)  and people do come and go.  Some people simply stop logging on for several months,  or prehaps they changed screennames....and the "friends" no longer exist on-line.  It is nice to be able to clear those out,  otherwise you could have tons of non-existent "friends" in your lists.
