Rebecca's Story

It was a dark and stormy night...

This morning I changed my baby name for a girl from Leah Hadassah to Nina Hadassah.  I have always loved Nina, but the last time I was pregnant DH said "No" to it, so this time I didn't even consider it.  Everyone has been giving me grief over Leah.  I pronounce it Lay-Ah, but everyone else pronounces it Lee-Ah.  I think both pronunciations are beautiful, but I just always said Lay-Ah.  If I had a girl I did not want her to go through life explaining how to pronounce her name.  This has been very frustrating to me and  I KNOW my in-laws will purposely mispronounce her name just to be aggravating.

This morning when I woke up I immediately said Nina Hadassah.  I research the name to see if it had any Biblical or Hebrew connections and it does!  Nina in Hebrew means Grace.  GRACE!  Grace was my Granny's name.  If Joseph had been a girl, his name would have been Grace Louise.  DH wasn't really fond of that name, but he did like the "oldness" of the name.  Now, I can have my Grace in the form of Nina!  DH is all for it after I explained its meaning.

We still have kept the boy's name of Benjamin Andrew.  So I am either having a Benjamin or a Nina.

I am very happy with this.

Obviously, I am a fan of Benjamin.  In fact, it was the only boy's name DH and I could agree upon!  LOL  I LOVE Nina, and I didn't know it had a meaning like that.  How beautiful!  I think you've chosen wonderful names, and I eagerly await the day we hear if you're welcoming Benjamin or Nina into your lives!
