We received a call from my dh daughter and she is leaving FL and moving to GA with her younger boyfriend. No big deal right? WRONG! She had already placed her to children with her jailbird husband's (yep! still married) dad who also happens to do drugs and boozes all night. He refuses to let her see the kids, lies to her constantly about them, says social services is involved when they're not, etc. So what does this all have to do with us. Well.....we're going to pick them up next week and bring them home to live with us. The day before Christmas! If we don't do it at that time then she will have "abandoned" them and they will either stay with him or come into foster care.
Now that doesn't sound THAT bad except lets see.... we already have my daughters 2 children in our home and oh yes let's not forget the 4 foster children whom live in our home. So let's see if I have the math correct. Girl 6 months, boy 1 1/2 year, boy 2 1/2, boy 3 1/2, boy 4, girl 4, girl 6 and boy 10. Yep that's 8 kids of which 6 of them are not in school and I work full time. I already do laundry till it's coming out my ears! Matter of fact I'm sick to death of laundry. At least the Lord has blessed me with a super capacity washer and dryer!
Then we have those people (including some of my family) who say I shouldn't take them in. I'm like "Are you kidding?" My DH has opened his arms to my 2 grandchildren one of whom was just 3 days old (and we don't do babies!). Am I just supposed to say Nope sorry we're full up. Leave your grandchildren with a drunken, druggie grandfather. I don't think so. Yes things will be tight but God will provide. He always has. Then when they find out we're making her sign an agreement that she gets her act together in 1 year or we look to terminate rights it really hits the fan. How horrible we must be. Well, I'm sorry but a child deserves a stable, loving home and not one that is constantly filled with drugs, unstability, moving constantly, etc.
Oh well. We'll make it I just may go bald before we're done.
Comments:
You know God is watching over you all and is bringing these children into your home because that is where they need to be! :) I know it will be over whelming, but those children will be with the right people and that is what matters.
Wow! That's a handful, but you can do it! Will your fostering continue with that many children? Does your license allow it?
Best wishes,
Beth :)
