Shipping Costs this year

SUCK!!!! I don't know if you all got sticker shock but I have shipped about 5 packages and all were over $10 to ship. They were not large packages, and I know in the past I would have estimated a high of about $10 for the biggest one. We received a package that my friend had shipped from OK and it cost her over $35 to ship it here. Yes, you heard right - and it was NOT FOOD. It was a box!! And it was light!
I about fainted when the uPS woman told me my little less than 5 lb package would cost a minimum $80 to ship - that is EIGHTY dollars to ship to Sri Lanka, to my Cafe Mom friend Mangalika. If I wanted tracking (and I think that is a good idea for overseas shipping) it would be an ADDITIONAL $50.) Minimum. HOLY HECK!
So my sister who is here and apparently knows all says to me, "That is why its easier to buy online and pay them shipping, (except when they offer free shipping) because its less stress, hassel and probably cheaper." She does not send gifts to her friends. They do one girls party and exchange ornaments.
So I have at least 2 more packages to go and maybe a couple more but now I am thinking I might wimp out and send jewelry, ha.
