OK so me and the hubby were talking about music and kids or whatever last night. How we got on this subject who knows. But it got us thinking... Ok for moms who are my age or a little older we consider songs by Journey, The Rolling stones, Lynard Skynard, Forgnier, Elton John, Marvin Gaye, and people like that as "classic" songs.... Most of these peoples songs will go on for ever... They were people our parents listen to and has GREAT hits.
And even now you have them "classic" 80's songs from the "hair bands" and things like that.... So with that said since I can remember (I'm a child of the 90"s) There has not been rememberable songs like said people above that are kids would call "classics". We have not had any bands nor songs that has come out that would be as rememberable as songs like these... In my opinion I sure don't think Beyonce or Katie Perry or people like that would be any where close to comparing to Lynard Skynard.

Beyonce is leaving a different more positive legacy more than her music. She sings, acts, is a fantastic clothing designer and gives young women strength and lets them know they can do anything you put your mind to.
When I think of musical legacies I think more of what kind of life they went through to get there. Elton John and being gay, Frank Sinatra and his supposed Mafia connections, Aretha Franklin dealing with racism from her generation, I mean something to really stick out from all the others. And I do think Beyonce might be considered a Legend after her music has hit the oldies station.
