My Happy Life, LOL!

For the past week and a half I have been stuck inside either because my daughter has been sick or because I got sick as well.

So when I was better, I take my daughter and we go out to get a tree, its getting down to the wire now. We drove all over and went into several stores and couldnt find a tree at all! I was worn out, not feeling good and getting desperate.

So On Saturday I drag myself out to Target and found a tree for us to get. My daughter is beside herself because we'll have a tree. I was pleased too, I had one, thats all that mattered.

Sunday afternoon we get up from our nap and get the tree together. She being a 2 year old and decorating her first tree, gangs up the ornaments I give her on one lower side of the tree. No biggie, I was going to move them around after she went to bed that night.

About 2 hours after the tree is up, my daughter is still beside the tree and in awe of it. I'm just down right proud I was able to get one and it didnt cost an arm and a leg and it was finally up. I enjoyed decorating it with her. Well, the tree falls down. I look at my daughter and she has an ornament in her hand. I believed she pulled off the ornament and made it fall. That probably didnt help it much eing pulled on, but one of the arms on the stand is broken and wont slide back in and stay, I mean broken with plastic sticking out. Time to think of returning the tree, or going to get Gorilla Glue at my parents and gluing it back together over night.

I chose the Gorilla glue and taped it with gray tape so it would harden up the way I wanted it to.

It worked and the tree stood up today. Then I decided it needed some more "just in case" work done to it, so I did this....

I reinforced ALL the arms on the stand!

Once it was standing on its own, I got the bright idea to gray tape that bad boy down to the floor, may as well, I have a curious toddler who cant keep her hands off the ornaments.

So now the tree is no longer looking like this

It looks like THIS!

I can remember all the years my father would rig up our Christmas tree so it wouldnt fall over. We would laugh at the lengths he went to to get our tree to stand. Sometimes we were never allowed to breathe on the tree because it would fall over if we did.

My father would use lead pipes, lead strips, bricks, all kinds of things, it was hilarious to us. We never could find a tree that grew with a straight trunk! Our always seemed to come from a hill side with a crooked tree trunk.

Well, my father is now pleased as punch that I am carrying on the family tradition of keeping the tree up and especially proud I used his number one fix it in the world to use....

GRAY TAPE!
