The mystery has been solved!

Have you always just assumed that the sparkles that are generally pictured around Santa's sleigh and reindeer are just an artistic representation of the magic that makes them fly?  You are wrong!!

My five year old son, Eli, has corrected this obviously erroneous thinking.  He recently brought home the "reindeer food" that he made in preschool.  Most everyone should know what "reindeer food" consists of: oatmeal and glitter.  He was so proud that he made this himself - choosing green, and only green, glitter for HIS food.

As I was inwardly lamenting the mess that this tradition was inevitable going to make on my front sidewalk as it does every year and outwardly praising his efforts, I watched his face suddenly go from excitement to deep thought as he looked between the bag of "food" and a statue of Santa and his sleigh on our shelf.  His eyes got really wide when he suddenly looked at me and exclaimed...

"THAT'S why there's sparkles!!!  Mama, mama!  The reindeer eat so much reindeer food that they FART glitter!"

Merry Christmas and Blessed Yule to all!
