Poll

Question: Will 5 Million GREEN JOBS really happen with Obama?

Options:

YES! Within his first year, we'll see this materialize.

Yes, but it'll be YEARS, and into the next presidency before we see it.

I think he's thinking BIG. But, Im hopeful.

Nope. It's just not realistic.

I do not know.

A question...I WANT YOUR OPINION...do you think Obama can really create 5 million new GREEN COLLAR JOBS???

Specifically, the report says jobs in five carbon-reducing technologies show "potential for future GREEN  job creation." These are:

1) LED lighting
2) High performance windows
3) Auxiliary power units for long-haul trucks (the power source which keeps frozen vegetables frozen while in transit)
4) Solar Power
5) "Super Soil Systems," which is a new technology for treating "hog wastes."

Can this happen?

Will this happen?

Will there be a greater expense?

I'd LOVE your feedback; your comment might even be published in Going Green Magazine!

Is it easy being green?  Are there real opportunity in this seemingly "SIMPLE" solution?

Thank you kindly....I look forward to your input.

xo

I certainly hope it happens. We need to take care of this earth. (It's the only one we have right now). Maybe in the future there will be other planets we can inhabit, but for the foreseeable future...this is it. I htink if everyone starts off by doing one little thing we can build on it and see what happens. Loveyou.

I do hope so. I am being cautiiously optimistic with Obama. I think he has the potential to do some great things, but I do worry that his intentions might be above his abilities. I am trying to stand behind him, with eyes wide open of course, and hope for the best. Time will tell I guess.

Dec. 26, 2008 at 10:21 AM I think it will take a lot of organization and he will need many like minded people behind him to get it going. But I am so optimistic and I hope everyone else in our country is too. Obama has A LOT on his plate, just as much or possibly more than any other president has ever had, and he will need everyone's support! He has mine! Also, I look forward to reading more on this subject! Thanks Elle!

That would certainly boost the economy. I am not sure if it's possible, but he seems to be doing things that most of us never thought possible in our life times, like being the first African American to become the President of our country.

I think its possible later on, but I also think that the cost of being green has to go down before this country really takes a bite into the hook. I know i recycle, and do what I can, but Im not paying $10 for one light bulb when I can buy 8 for $2 and thats just how it is. Most of America cant afford to go completely green, especially right now. And if people arent going to pay to go green then the jobs arent needed...cut the costs first-then the jobs will come.

I voted "other".  IMO there's really no way to predict.  Our opinions are only speculation.  There are so many factors to consider and too many variables.  Of course, we all hope he will do everything he has promised to do.  But, reality is that any president has limitations.

I believe Obama has very good and  honorable intentions.  I believe he will do whatever he is able to accomplish what will improve this country.
