How to Survive CafeMom:

I always notice in the NC group the newbies to CM who are either super excited (they are preggers - first baby - what ever) and realize that CM is like a drug with insanely unwarned side effects.

So, since I'm bored today, I wanted to write a post that hopefully new mums to the site will read.

CafeMom is a cool place, dont get meh wrong, in fact, I spend most of my free time on here, it can be educational, it IS entertaining, you can find support and you can also find groups to let your hair down and really tell someone how you feel *lol*

The thing that I've always noticed is those few new members who freak out on CM, they ask an honest question and arent aware that said question is a 'hot topic' on CM.  They arent expecting to be greeted with a bunch of 'cyber screaming' women in a 'bashing' form.

Lets take a step back though and just remember these things:::

You can not interpret ones tone on the Internet, they might not have an attitude at all, in fact, they could just be very convicted by their stand on certain topics that they come off 'too strong'.

There is a major difference between stating an opinion and personally bashing someone.  Of course, there are a lot of passive aggressive women on CM who will bash you and comfort you all at the same time and that can get annoying.

Remember that there are thousands if not close to a million different mothers on CM, some young some older, all of us from different cultures and backgrounds, so look at things with an open mind.  It will probably help you absorb more of the GOOD information and avoid the 'drama' that can sometimes end up with feelings getting hurt.

This is JUST the INTERNET, dont let anyone say anything to you that breaks your spirit.  If someone is seriously stalking you, make your page private and let CM know, believe it or not, they have a super fast response time and they DO take care of business.

The way you want to raise your child, isnt the way everyone else raises theirs, so if you want to state an opinion on it, please do, but unless you are in a 'free/drama' type group, try to be a little more courteous, remember, WOMEN+Hormones+Family Situations+Cultural differences = DRAMA *lol* so just chill.

Look for groups.  This is probably the funnest (is that a word?) part of CM.  They have groups for EVERY THING you could possibly want plus more so check them out, and check out new groups often.  You can make all types of cool friends, a lot of my friends from CM i have met IRL and if not are planning to meet with them soon!

Take breaks, seriously, you will get addicted to this site, and you will find yourself unable to function without it *lol*

Remember, CM is what you make it, so make it fun and have fun and remember...

Wow, you know I was on CM for over a year before I got my first cyber-stalker... then I got 2 at the same time!!!  LMAO  Wish someone had told me some of this back then... but almost 3 years later I think I'm a pro now!!  :-D
