I have been struggling with my kids to keep their rooms clean. I scream i yell i take stuff away and still nothing. SO today i had an epiphany of sorts. My daughter had library books due today so i told her to gegt htem all in a bag and after lunch we would take them. so we get almost to the library and she says I think we are missing one sure enough one was missing. SO i tell her from now on she is going to have to earn the money to pay me for gas to take her places. That means keeping her room clean and the animals fed. Period.. Now i am not saying my house is spotless, cause its not but it is clean. and unorganized but clean none the less. So i told her from now on period if she wants to go to girls scouts she had better have enough "allowance" or credit to pay me to take her, library same deal, baton same thing, I am tired of her getting toys or books or new clothes and finding them within 24 hours broken and discarded on her floor after i ahve tried everything else. I know it seems harsh but she is nine and needs to learn that her daddy and i have no extra money so on the rare ocassion that we do have the money for something and we get it for her or sign her up for it its a big deal and she should treat it as such. What do you think? and if this doesnt work what else should i try when i have tried everything else?

I think that i a wonderful idea, I am going to try it with my girls. I cleaned their room yesterday. We had a realtor come show our apartment yesterday. They are hoping to sell with in three months so they are not renewing our lease, yikes. so now I have to look for an aprtment for us which the are not many around where we are and the rent is very expensive. an we do not know how many months we have before we have to move. Poor mom, in end after cleaning the girls room, i am so sore its not funny.

sounds like an excellent idea to me. heck, we might even impliment something of the sort in our house. lol
we are a homeschool family. part of getting our day started is morning chores...ie getting dressed, eat, hygene, making beds and straightening up bedrooms. as part of our quick cleanup before daddy gets home we vaccum and pick up the livingroom. then part of our bedtime routine is cleaning the kitchen, putting dishes away, pj's on, cleaning bedrooms and whatever is left.
we make chores a family event...no one is exempt from helping out. lol
