Never have I made last night's dinner and had so many problems afterwards. Honestly, I am not a BAD cook. I am not a Five-Star Chef either. Let's just say that I have yet to kill anyone or make them starve to death.
But, between last night and this morning, I think that someone up-stairs has it out for me or just wanted a good laugh.
You know, it is bad enough that my chest feels a little icky. But, to have ALMOST have happen this morning was the preview of my day.
At about one o'clock this morning, I jumped up in the bed and thought I was going to hurl. I almost did. Right in to the bed, on top of the cat.
So, I had to get my my poor, half sleepy butt out of the bed and head to the bathroom...up-stairs. All the while, hoping and praying I don't have an "accident" on the steps or in the hall.
After searching for it, I finally found the bottle I was looking for.
My Rolaids!! I took three of those little guys. Within minutes, I felt better. But, I can still feel a little of the acid indigestion.
Plus, I am waiting for my oldest to wake up. She had a nasty allergic reaction last night. Hives all over her trunk, thighs and face.
As soon as I had seen the hives and a tiny bit of lip swelling, I had her take some Benadryl in pill form. Poor kid. She woke up in tears and was telling Scott that it itched a lot all over. So (of course, being he IS a man!) Scott sent Hayley down to me. As soon as I got her in to the light, I had seen the hives and redness.
We know all of Hayley's allergies. And never before did she react to this particular Hamburger Helper.
So, this morning, after giving the office staff time to get in and start their day, I am planning on calling the doctor.
He may not do it, but he can make a referral. I want Hayley have a broad-range allergy test. This is going to mean both skin scraping and blood work.
We think that the box of hamburger helper (off brand) did it. Apparently, there is Soy in it...And too much for her to handle. It is kind of like as if she has Lactose Intolerance. She can have the Soy. But only minute or small amounts.
Basically, the higher up on the ingredients list that the Soy is, the less she can have. So, some ice creams, she can only have a few bites. Others, a couple of scoops. It all depends on the amount of the Soy content.
Plus, I think that it is also the culprit for my acid problem early this morning.
Here is to a HOPEFULLY better morning and rest of the day!!
Comments:
My daughter was only a week old when I took her in to the ER throwing up with Projectile Vomitting and severe Diareah. The ER doctor is the one that figured it all out that she was allergic to Soy.
Nine years later, she can have tiny amounts. But, given too much (like last night apparently), she has a bad reaction.
Normally I am really good about watching what I fix or let her have, being that she is allergic to five different foods (mushrooms, blue cheese **even the dressing**, Red Dye 40 in the RED popcicles **NOT kool-aid though**, cocktail shrimp **has to be fried..not just broiled/grilled** and the Soy).
Sounds like you had an eventful night! I hope you are both feeling better! Poor kid! And I know alllllll about acid indigestion. Ugh!
I feel better. But, now it is running through. So, I'm kinda nauseated and the potty and I are becoming best friends this morning.
Hayley is STILL sleeping. Benadryl can knock me out for HOURS...All the way in to mi-morning. So, I am letting her snooze as long as she wants to.
Oy vey!!! I hope she is doing much better this morning Missy. Hope that the doc will give you the referral too...HUGS!!!
She JUST got up and the hives are all gone. But, I am calling in about 20 min. to the doctor to see what I can do.
Maybe he will make a referal for her...Then again she may have to be seen by him first, being that she is a new patient there. Then we will go from there.
Okie dokie! She sees her doctor on Friday at 2 PM.
She feels better. But now, she hates the fact that I am making her have an allergy test done. But I want to know of EVERY allergy she has and how best to go about making sure that we avoid them as much as possible.
Does Medicaid or the "off-set" Medicaid pay for Epi-Pens if she is required to have one on hand? I can't afford the full amount for one out of pocket.
ok...I just IM'd her...it has been a few years, but she said that she is pretty sure that they did cover it.

Mila Kunis' Weight Gain Is No Cause for Concern
Let me know about the allergy test. I have been wanting to test my little one for the soy allergy or intolerance. She has been on soy most of her 2 years and just a few months ago she started not being able to handle it!!!!! Our doctor has never heard of a soy allergy test, so I am curious.
